Different type of responsibilities (Obligations), that I am responsible for many things like following the UAEA’s laws and my job rules, making sure public money is used in the right way, meeting people's expectations for fairness and honesty and doing what my organization promises, like let’s say being transparent or acting ethically. This means that my work has a big effect on how people trust government actions.

As an employee at the UAEAA, this article reminded me that accountants not just about rules and reports, it’s about real responsibilities, open communication and continuous improvement. My role helps ensure that public resources are used wisely, that the public can ask questions and receive clear answers and that institutions respond with transparency and fairness.

And if something goes wrong, I take responsibility and try to fix it. When I do these three things, know my duties, stay open, and accept the results .

I’m being truly accountable in my work.

The article illustrate that accountability is based on obligation and scrutiny and consequences. It shows that accountability is messy political and deeply social. Therefore to better improve governance, we must understand how power, expectations, and relationships work in real life not just on paper.

So in my opinion i can agree with the author on the importance of obligation and meeting the people requirements and fulfilling the promises made to them in order to have accountable civilised societies.

The article is about how accountability works in real life as it was drawn on 5 years of multiple countries from the Action for Empowerment and Accountability (A4EA) program. Thus, it has three main components: obligations, scrutiny, and consequences. I appreciated the idea of the author that accountability isn’t just about punishment. Sometimes, just getting a proper explanation or acknowledgment can be a meaningful outcome.
