After his writing took off and he signed with Disney, he decided it would be best to quit. He got the idea for Percy Jackson while telling a bedtime story to his son about Greek Mythology. Riordan loves working with kids and loves being able to reach kids with his writing. Riordan continued with this series giving it 5 books total, and then 5 more books in an after series.
