While exploring this land full of cyclops they find a key where they stumble across Polyphemus. They look at him believing him to be a friendly cyclops. They come into his cave to have a meal with him and Polyphemus traps them in the cave with a boulder. While they were trapped inside Polyphemus would leave for a while to tend his sheep and then come back to eat two of Odysseus's men. One day Odysseus offered Polyphemus all of his finest wine from their supplies. Polyphemus drank all of it and eventually passed out. While he was passed out Odysseus jammed a spear into Polyphemus's eye blinding him. As Polyphemus did not know Odysseus's name he cried out "Nobody has harmed me." Since the Cyclops thought that "Nobody" was harming him then they did not think to help him. As Odysseus and his ship crew escaped he took one last stab at Polyphemus. In this last stab, Odysseus told Polyphemus his name.
