We asked Mr. Carmona about the questions and these were his answers. The highlight was the answers.

Why cannot bring chewing gum to school or in the classroom? This is a matter of rules and norms our students must follow in order to keep a safe and healthy environment in our school. We included chewing gum as an item that could cause a distraction in the classroom since it increased the production of saliva which triggers the need to consume more water. As a result, students will request more bathroom breaks an miss instructional time. It is also proven that gum has a negative effect on students dental health and wanted to ensure we were addressing this issues in our handbook.

What do you think about children who bring dyed hair or nails? I certainly don't have any negative thoughts about students that have dyed hair and/or long nails. Our handbook, however, specifically dictate our expectations regarding these two items. The norms are about uniformity and consistency. They are certainly not about exclusion.

Do you feel like the students are working hard enough? I'm extremely proud of our students and our staff. Our staff is working really hard to ensure each of our students gets the high-quality education they deserved. On the other hand, our students are doing their best in trying to keep up with all the requirements we have in our school. All I can ask our students is to continue working hard, listen to their teachers' instructions, and try to go above and beyond in each of their assignments.

What do you think about the girls who bring the skirt above the knees and where we should bring the skirt. As mentioned before, this s something we addressed in our handbook. It is important that our students followed our uniform policy so that we can maintain a safe and healthy environment for everyone in our school.

When you're walking around the halls do you think the children are protected by the teachers? Absolutely, our school is a safe place to learn. Safety is one of our top priorities and it is our job to ensure our student don't have to worry about safety while they are in the building.
