"How Soon Is Now?" by The Smiths relates to The Outsiders because it is a song about being misunderstood. In line four of the second verse, the lyric says, "I am human and I need to be loved, just like everybody else does." This line is representative of the Greasers' desire to feel needed by each other and wanted by society.

"Mr. Brightside" by The Killer's relates to "The Outsiders" because this song is about jealousy and looking on the bright side after a sad event. I the second verse, the lyrics say, "Jealousy, turning saints into the sea Swimming through sick lullabies Choking on your alibis But it's just the price I pay Destiny is calling me" Saying that you can feel jealous but it should not affect you and that things that you do will always be matched with other bad things. It was like the time Ponyboy ran away from Darry because Darry hit Ponyboy. Johnny was there for Ponyboy and helped him through it.
-Sienna Zizzi

How does "all by my self" by Celine Dion relate to The Outsides?

I think this song relates to The Outsiders because Ponyboy and Johnny are by them selves and are cast aways. I think that this song is good because it talks about being by your self and being alone.

"Kamikaze" by Walk the Moon relates to the outsiders because, When Ponyboy had to cut his hair he was really sad and Johnny comforted him and told he could get through it and in the lyric "You would be my comfort" its talking about how someone would comfort him.

How does "Stay Gold" by Stevie Wonder relate to The Outsiders?"

"Stay Gold" by Stevie Wonder relates to The Outsiders because it is about how nothing can stay gold, or stay good. In verse 1 the song goes "So young and care free again you will see that place in time...so gold" this relates to The Outsiders because it is talking about how nothing can stay good; all good things must come to an end. Good things like Ponyboy's relationship with his mother. Ponyboy describes his mother as sweet, loving, and caring. She along with his father unfortunately died in a car crash. Ponyboy probably feels alone in this world as him and his brother Darry (his only father figure left) don't have the best relationship. In verse 1 where the song goes, "So young and care free again you will see that place in time...so gold" that line can relate to Johnny and Ponyboy before Johnny killed Bob when life wasn't as hard. In conclusion these are the reasons why the song "Stay Gold" by Stevie Wonder can relate to The Outsiders.

“Thunder” by Imagine Dragons relates to The Outsiders because, “Thunder” is about someone who is misunderstood and wants to amount to something greater which is similar to how Ponyboy feels. A line from “Thunder” is, “Now I’m smiling from the stage and your clapping in the nose bleeds” (Imagine Dragons). In comparison Ponyboy enjoys books and movies while the rest of the gang doesn't enjoy them. The unspecified person from the song “Thunder” wants to be some kind of performer but no one believes in them. Thus they are both misunderstood.

"Lost boy" by Ruth B relates to The Outsiders because it is about a boy who at first does not have a place that cares about him. The first two lines are, "There was a time when I was alone / Nowhere to go and no place to call home" (Ruth B).This relates to Johnny because his parents don’t care about him. If he did not have the gang he would be alone. Johnny’s parents are more like mean roommates and the gang is his family.
