I will survive," correlate with the quote from Emerson's Self Reliance. "And we are now men,
and must accept in the highest mind the same transcendent destiny; and not pinched in a corner, not
cowards fleeing before a revolution, but redeemers and benefactors, pious aspirants to be noble clay
plastic under the Almighty effort, let us advance and advance on Chaos and the Dark." Both of these quotes highlight the aspect of self reliance in persevering through the difficult times. Despite the situations being dire, both quotes express the same message of continuing throughout the hardships.

It was because of the fact that he was widely misunderstood, which led to his death at the hands of someone who didn't believe that he was right.
