Different shots and angles used in horror films.

Close Up Shot- Close up shots are generally used in horror films to emphasis the reaction of a character.
High Angle Shot- This shot is generally used to make the character look powerless and vulnerable.
Reverse Shot- This shot builds up suspense and can signify flashbacks.
Tilted Angle- This shot shows dramatic tension and can easily signify a supernatural being or pushing, or movement of the camera.
Long Shot- This shot is used to establish the setting of the film. This will put the audience into perspective of what the film will be about.
Low Angles- A low angle shot is used to emphasis how scary, powerful and intimidating a 'villain' is.
Hand Held Camera Shot- This shot is generally used to add a sense of reality to make the film more realistic.
Point of view- This is a shot used to show the audience what the character is going through and why the character was showing these emotions during close up shots.
Zoom- This adds dramatic effect and creates an element of suspense and fear.
Over the shoulder- This shot builds tension by bringing a fear of something behind the character or about to jump out at the character. This shot can also set a scene so the audience can see the character interacting with the environment.
