Pablo Escobar was and still is known as one of the top Colombian drug lords in the world. Making over 30 billion dollars By his death Which roughly equals 70 billion in todays time. He was known as "the king of cocaine" and was also a narcoterrorist and at one point a politician. He created and founded the Medellin Cartel which helped him fight against Columbias police force as they tried time and time again to capture Pablo. And even after his death the impact is still in columbia with People still finding his hidden money throughout columbia to this day.

His beginnings

Pablo Escobar didn't immediately go into crime. He studied at the Universidad Autonoma LatinoAmericana where he later dropped out and didn't graduate due to lack of money. This is when he starting engaging in criminal activity. It was small stuff at first like selling illegal cigarettes and selling fake lottery tickets as well as stealing cars once in a while. Soon after in the early 1970's he would start getting into more intense stuff such as working for drug smugglers and kidnapping people for ransom. It wasnt until 1976 where Pablo would truely start his drug lord path.

The medellin Cartel

Pablo escobar first started the medellin cartel In Medellin, Columbia in 1976 for the distribution of cocaine.Many people refer to it as the first major cartel Because of the power it had being alongside other big drug smugglers. before the cartel had been made Pablo Escobar and his gang was doing good smuggling various other stuffs like cigarettes but it was once the cartel was made that they switched to purely smuggling cocaine. Pablos right hand man and cousin, Gustavo Gaviria Was in charge of drug shipping and arrangements. Meaning he would send the drugs to places Like the united states to people who wanted to buy any. He was also seen as the man who helped push the cartel towards Narcoterrorism along with pablo Which made them the most wanted men at the time.

Around the late 1970s and early 1980s Pablo was at the very top. The demand for Cocaine was increasing and he was making new routes and Building new facilitys so he could distribute all the cocaine he could. It was in the U.S especially where the demand for cocaine was wanted. He buying all these mansions and yachts and even having exotic animals brought to columbia like hippos, rhinos ,elephants and giraffes. And in the early 1980s he was getting himself into politics and spending a lot of money helping Poor barrios (Neighborhoods) in colombia All so he would seem like a good person towards his people. But many in the colombian goverment werent buying it one being a opponent Of Pablo, Rodrigo Lara-Bonillo a minister of justice who had Pablo Investigated and expelled from the goverment. It didnt end well for him as three months later Rodrigo would be murdered.

The end of Pablo Escobar

It was up until the 1990s where it was coming to Pablos end. Many of his cartel members were being captured or killed by Colombian goverment and help from the U.S dea. He was also in his own private jail from some time which would end after the comlombian goverment had enough and had gone to arrest pablo themselves on july 22nd 1992. Pablo was able to escape but it was at this point Where he knew he would have to evade and hide from the police as long as he could. It would be more than a year before Pablo was finally found hiding in a middle class home in medellin where he attempted to run but ultimately died to shots fired at him. Many still dont know whether he had shot himself or It was the bullet of colombian police that killed him.

After Pablo Escobar was killed. The Medellin cartel crumbled and the Cocaine business would be dominated by their rivals the Cali cartel for quite a while until the leader was killed as well. Pablos effects on colombia are still seen today. With many people still finding large amounts of his money hidden throughout medellin to this day. A while after he died he was still still seen as a savior to many because of his help towards poor neighborhoods. Many mourned his death because they were helped by Pablo and thought of him as good. A tremendous 25,000 people went to mourn him at his funeral. They considered him a angel for what he did for them. another interesting aftermath of Pablos death was the hippos he had brought. He had four hippos which many said would be to big and difficult to move and were left at Pablos house. Because of this the hippos have reproduced and are still multiplying to this day in Colombia.
