Children that have abused, abandoned, neglected or mistreated turn into adults with pain and heartache and make poor choices out of that pain. And, after following all of the DOC'S guidelines,  he sometimes never receives our correspondence with no explanation from the DOC. I understand virtual visits due to COVID-19,  but they are very impersonal.  Hope they end soon.

And, also through updated bulletins, etc that could be found in the Library.
While working at the Prison Society, we were inundated with requests for the Graterfriends magazines from all the state correctional facilities.  The reason: they saw it as a means of staying abreast of current information and also as a way to communicate their issues with the outside world. Additionally, a large majority of released individuals consistently visited the Prison Society to thank us for huge positive contributions that receiving regular copies made to their incarceration experience.

Just because someone is in prison it does not mean that they are not a wonderful person who can do so much good for society. The majority of people in prison are of no danger to society. In my experience, I don't think enough people realize this. People seem to like to label each other, which is very detrimental.  Also, prison/jail is an awful place with no luxuries. As others have said, the food is terrible and not nutritious.
