Today I met my future students. The expression in their face was something I won't forget. They were so happy to have a new teacher for a few months....

This was my first observation class, my main goal was to observe the interaction between the teacher and the students, meet the students, the teacher and also de school.

My second obsrevation was the same day, they have 2 hours of English on Wednesdays, with a break of ten minutes in the middle.

What I found useful of this time was the way in which children work. Also, their interests. Some of them, came to me and told me what they like. I realized that as it is a school in the middle of nowhere the internet is not so good, the English teacher had some problems with it and with the projector, which is the only technological device that exist in that school.

During the break I observe how they played. I couldn't imagine what I was seeing. I'm used to teaching primary school students who like technology, tealking about girls/boys. But children in this town are so different! It's a place where children really enjoy, play and interect between each other.

I also observed the distribution of the desks in the class and the activities the teacher gave.

It was an activity in relation to the story they have been working on: The very hungry caterpillar.

They had to invent their own story. The teacher gave them a sheet of paper with some incomplete sentences, where they had to write what their favourite animal or thing ate during the week. To do this, she showed them an example sheet done by herself.

I helped the students with some vocabulary words and with the instructions of each page.

It was a very creative activity!

What I noticed is that their English level is lower that what I thought. Some of them didn't want to read out loud their story so they explained what they had drawn in Spanish, others didn't know most of the words.

They don't know colours or numbers. This surprised me a lot.

I noticed that at first students were surprised, because I gave the instructions in English not in Spanish as they are used to.

We played this game until the bell rang.

I observed that the activities of the teacher are very long and they became a bit boring. The English teacher is studying, too.

During the first 50 minutes, students were surprised and they almost couldn't understand what he was saying. The are not used to listening someone speaking English the entire class. So, I use gesture and sometimes I had to translate the instructions.

Students loved the activity, the album of the stickers was their favourite part, they couldn't believe that they had to keep it.

Something I noticed is that they aren't organised to enter to the classroom. After having luch they brushed their teeth and then they enter one by one, not in an specific order.

Today the class was a bit messy. One of the students, the one I had written about didn't want to enter to class, he didn't even listen to the head teacher, he was out of line.

The puzzle took longer that I expected, we finished it in the second hour.

During the break, this student had a fight with other students, so my class was interrupted, the head teacher and other teacher came to the classroom to yell at him. I didn't like this moment.

I couldn't film the entire hour and my recording stopped after 25 minutes, I don't know what happened.

The environment wasn't so good after this argument. Even his classmates were uncomfortable. Despite this, they loved the chef hat and the crazy pizza, they went to the break wearing it. Happy ending for a not so good class :(

I have been working with crazy food since last class and I noticed that students really liked it.

During the first 50 minutes we watched these funny video song introducing the new grammar structure: Do you like....? They understood the topic very well. I followed the suggestions of the teacher and I exploited the video. I made a new activity and flashcards of the food in the video. It was great!

During the second 50 minutes we did a cryptogram, I couldn't believe how silent they were, extremelly concentrated. Also I add some mistery speaking low and saying that it was a secret message.

I recorded the first class but during the second recording I don't know why my phone stopped doing it and the video lasts 20 minutes.

We worked the entire class in groups, first we played fly swatter using the vocabulary of food, which they loved. Then,they had to find some flashcards hidden in the classroom and make a poster with them keeping the same groups. This was good, a bit noisy and messy, as you can expected.

During the class, as they move from one corner to the other, one of the students notice that I was filming the class. He started to make funny faces and telling his mates, this was kind of annoying but I knew that it could happen. Afterwards, they forgot about it and continue working as nothing had hapenned.

In the second part of the lesson, the last 50 minutes, students did all the activities so fast that I have to improvise how to spend the last 15 minutes working. Luckily, I had an extra activity (a crossword) that I had planned for a last class, where due to time we did not get to do it.

My 10th class was good but the kids were tired and hungry. I create a restaurant menu and they created their own one. It was funny when they wanted to write only argentinian food and were worried about tourists visiting their restaurant.

First, we played picture memory, they had already played this game in P.E, so it was funny and easy to understand the instructions in English.

We decorated the classroom with a big puzzle - poster. Then, we followed some instruction cards to colour, paste the name of the food and paste the faces (I like/ I don't like).

During the second period of class we did some listening activities. I was amazed. They understood everything I read!!

Finally, I gave them a package with some school supplies and a mini book created by me. They were so glad....

This kids are not like "city kids" they are far away from being one. Their smiles and hugs of these classes are things that I will not forget.
