1. Okonkwo's struggle to distance himself from his "lazy" father and insecurity regarding the masculine archetype fuels his behavior. His development of relationships with his family is limited because while it was initially his physical prowess that attracted his wife, it ultimately led to damaging his relationship due to him seeing physical power as the ultimate power. While he is fond of his daughter Ezinma, this relationship does not grow due to his inability to relate to the domestic sphere and his own inability to show affection. Okonkwo is affected by other characters throughout the novel, particularly his father who he bases all of his actions around by attempting to behave in a way his father would not. 
 2. He rejects the feminine idea in feasts and celebration, he rejects any potentially feminine or lazy aspects of the culture.
3. Okonkwo sees physical power as the ultimate source of power. While physical power is valued by the tribe, wisdom is also valued by the tribe.

The moral development of Okwonko in chapter 3, is the result of his father Unoka’s bad luck throughout his life. Unoka went to consult Agbala the priestess, she told him he was the weakest out of the tribe, and didn’t have the strength to travel far and seek out new soil to plant yams on. When he died he was carried to the evil forest, which is know as the most embarrassing way to die.  Okwonko saw how his father was doomed throughout his lifetime and he was obsessed with not having a contemptible life and a shameful death. Okwonkwo was trying to figure out how to make a living so he went to man named Nwakibie’s and he asked him for yam seeds, in doing so he builds trust expressing he’s not afraid of hard work when given eight hundred yam seeds however his crop fails to grow during that year (thinking that nature is agents him) it rains heavily that year, but instead of giving up and committing suicide like other people, he told himself that since he survived that year that he could survive anything else in his life. 
 
2. The interpret cultural settings displayed in chapter 3 was shown through the kola nut, which is used for communication which represents hospitality. Also the Alligator seed where also shown with the kola nut to make Okwonkwo feeling welcome in Nwakibie’s hut. This foreshadows that Okwonkwo was going to leave by having gains something from the visit.  Also the women’s crops were coco-yams, beans and Cassava and yams were the mans crops which goes to show Okwonkwo wanted masculinity unlike his father. 
 
3. Power struggles – Between him and his father being opposites also him vs. Nature. Even when his dad was dying he didn’t have the patients to listen to his advice. 
 
4.  What did you think why people decide to give Yam seeds considering his father had suck a bad representation?

1. In this chapter, Okonkwo participates in the betrothal process of a friend's daughter. He insists that the suitor be sufficiently generous, demonstrating concern for his friend. It is also revealed that Okonkwo is worried for his daughter Ezinma. However, these caring aspects of his personality are hidden beneath a stoic exterior. This is a continuation of Okonkwo's doomed dedication to masculine ideals.
2. Obierika's uri-- the village has a large feast and celebrates with palm wine; women cook
3. Okonkwo struggles for power internally by pursuing masculinity. This is in contrast with his father's femininity. However, the most successful characters demonstrate a balance between masc & fem traits (e.g Ezedu's call for mercy).

Although he was known to be very masculine and not have feelings for really anyone, he felt true sadness after killing Ikemefuna which shows his transition from a complete stoic attitude to a man who feels sadness. Okonkwo starts to create a better relationship with his daughter, Ezinma, because he realizes she has the "right spirit" and even wishes she was a boy. 
2.The men feel they must never show weakness and always be powerful.
3. There is a power struggle within Okonkwo because he doesn't want to be as cruel to the ones he loves, but at the same time he cannot allow others to see his relationships as a weakness.

1.Okonkwo morally wants to be close to his family but has too much hate for his father. He  separates himself from his family by controlling them. The Oracle influences him because the religion of his culture guides him.

2. Elders meeting to give verdict to Uzowulu. They only seem to intervene on important matters, since there is a big ceremony to summon them. People believe that there is a higher force that has ancient wisdom.

1. In this chapter, Okonkwo displays more open affection for his daughter and wife than in arguably any other instance in the book. We get to understand the relationship between Ekwefi and Okonkwo better; see them reach a deeper level of understanding.

2. There's a big religious aspect- following the will of the gods, the character of Chielo, a priestess. There's also a mention of folktales, curses, etc. 

3. We see the character of Okonkwo, a man who hates weakness, beg for his daughter's sake. His wife, Ekwefi defies the will of the gods and follows her daughter and the priestess despite being cursed, displaying her own inner power despite her husband's belief that women are weaker, etc. 

4. Why did the author use the story of the tortoise specifically?
