For Girls Who Cry Often is a zine that focuses and explores mental health for women. This zine was published by Lina Wu and has 20+ contributors that create poetry, illustrations, comics, photography, and designs. All contributions focus on the female experience of mental health. Wu has said "For much of my life, I noticed that 'getting emotional' was seen as a girly or feminine thing - meaning it is often dismissed as dramatic and frivolous". She wanted to created something that helped women feel less alone in their dark times. Someone could find this inspiring by relating to the content that is being shown. Unfortunately, this zine is no longer in commission.

Sniffin'Glue - Jayla Diamond

When the punk scene started in 1976 in the UK Mark Perry, who established the fanzine, felt that there should be a magazine that was devoted to the punk scene which was punk rock. It was also important because it was the first fanzine that was about punk rock. The goal of the fanzine was for young people to get their alternative opinion across. The goal was to also show that anyone could easily, cheaply, and quickly create a fanzine. There were multiple kinds of media that were used to create Sniffin' Glue. He used a typewriter or felt tip pen. He would use cow gum to cut and paste graphics. And then he would go to his local photocopying shop. Photocopying really played a big role because, "it limited graphic experimentation to black and white tones and imagery based on collage, enlargement, and reduction." This could be inspiring to someone because it’s different. During the ’70s this zine was about being different from the norm, standing out, doing something on your own, and being different. They could take the meaning of this zine and apply it to their zine or artwork.

This zine aims to validate the feelings of those facing anxiety. They do this by drawing pictures that show or illustrate our feelings after being “successful” in something or feeling good at a specific time. They include a plethora of hand-drawn pictures to aid in this. I chose this zine simply because it's extremely relatable to the same thinking patterns, same thoughts, same experiences, and the same feelings during these encounters.

The name os the zine that i chose was “Sula”. The goal of this zine is to show the history of people of color and the contributions that they have made and the importance of people of color. Sula has zines in the “sula journals” that showcase mostly photographs, but because it is in a journal we can assume that there is some writing on the zines and about the zines. This zine gave me inspiration on how I can create one about a personal struggle, but one that also affects many other people. This topic being mental health.
