Bette Greene was born on June 28, 1934, in Memphis, Tennessee, and lived in Parkin, (a town close to Memphis). Her family was the only Jewish family in Parkin, so they attended a synagogue in Memphis. She has been writing since she was nine, where she reported on a Parkin barn fire.

My favorite character would definitely be Ruth. She acts like a second mom to Patty and helps Patty out in any situation. She also always seems to have the wise, thoughtful answers.
