It's pretty neat that your class level was selected to be the pilot group for the new roll out of the chromebooks. Its also nice to know that your school has provided you with professional develop opportunities to increase your level of comfort with using them in the classroom. How have the students and parents responded with the use of chromebooks? Overall are you finding them beneficial? is the community finding them beneficial?

- Kristen Preissler

My district this year just went 1:1 for all students from grade levels 6-12. Last year my students were chosen to pilot the devices and let me tell you it was learning experience. Going from knowing a limited amount about the devices and their capabilities to using it for just about everything in the classroom was a very adventurous process loaded with many twists and turns as well ass success and failures. Google classroom has come such a long way in such a short period of time in becoming an amazing resources for crating empowered student learners. I encourage you to continue to challenge yourself with finding a variety of uses to help differentiate for the students using the 1:1 devices. Trust me when I say baby steps when venturing into the the use of a variety of resources, but once you feel comfortable their is an abundance of information to help transform your classroom in a 21st century learning facility. Good luck and feel free to ask me any questions regarding technological usage and ideas.

Luke Gasper

The website looks great. I'm excited to hear more about your chromebook successes and Google Classroom. I have used other LMS programs and I really like Google Classroom. So do my students. It's so versatile.

Your site is great! Like Lea, I also prefer the look of Google sites over Blogger - it does make everything much more visually appealing. I have incorporated blogs - really reflective learning portfolios in my science classes this year. Students had the choice to use Google sites (new) instead of Blogger as a platform. Virtually all of my students chose to use Google sites as it is more intuitive than Blogger.
Nancy Wolski

I like how complete your blog is. It is fun to look at other people's blogs and see what types of things they put on them. I created my blog for the last class I took in the fall.I had a hard time finding blog platform that was user friendly. I ended up with blogger, but I think the Google Site is a great choice. I am interested to see the things you do with social studies as I am a 7th grade social studies teacher along with ELA.
Jayne O'Gorman

Hi Amanda!
I loved that you talked about having students create graphics that can be used within a lesson. What a way to engage students! This can also be a way to assess their understanding of the content! Students could create different life cycles and timelines and we could add them within our lesson on sequencing. I also liked your idea of having students that are less apt to feeling comfortable presenting to the class, create their presentation through graphics. This will not only engage the student presenting, but all of their peers, resulting in a more valuable presentation!

Thank you so much for sharing!
Jessica Neely
