Woodwinds 

The Piccolo has as a very high range making it perfect for highlighting specific moments.
Flutes can take the lead melody aswell as support the whole orchestra - 3 players
Oboes occupy the alto register of the woodwind ensemble - 3 players
Clarinet useful in various situations - 3 players 
Bassoons are perfect for creating supporting rhythmic lines - 2 players 

Brass

Horns add a harmonic backbone to the music aswell as adding a rich and powerful timbre - 4 players

Percussion
