Certain skills that are expected of the students such as academic writing in their course work, some students aren't in English classes or struggle with English so are at a disadvantage and can slip between the cracks. Tutorial should have times where maybe an English teach joins to help with any skills that need to be refreshed.

some skills are brushed past so quickly that students only get a glimpse of what they can do but we don't have the time or resources to teach them these skills such as videography. This is something the students will likely never experience here so they won't know if it's the direction they want to go in.

The one year GCSE course has expectations of the students. One of the expectations is that students have a good standard of spelling punctuation and grammar. Within the curriculum there is no opportunity to teach SPAG skills and it is a marked requirement of paper one and paper two.

The core soft skills are being taught but are not part of the "formal " curriculum. Also the social aspects of working on practical's are being transferred but again are not a formal part of what is expected. As most students go on to University it would be great to see a little more open ended projects that involve aspects of research and real life science experience.
