I was thinking about how many crimes of drugging (i.e., drink spiking, injection spiking) go unreported and uninvestigated purely because of how uncomfortable, uninviting, and emotionally taxing official reporting and testing procedures are.

Underreporting likely leads to underfinanced prevention policies and fickle research into the problem.

I would like to see a space - both virtual and physical - dedicated to guiding and supporting victims of drugging through this delicate process and, if admissible in the jurisdiction, providing supplementary third-party tests conducted in a curated safe environment.

The space needs to be overtly welcoming of women, POC, LGBTQIA+ and other minority groups for they tend to be disproportionately mistreated by existing criminal justice channels.

I was considering tackling the issue of people simply not knowing what rights they have and can invoke in either protest-related encounters with law enforcement (Protesters' Rights) or consumer injustice (the EU Unfair Terms Directive).

This would entail using layman's terms in an accessible and easily digestible, perhaps even gamified, format (can be both an online landing and a flyer) to introduce and explain rights and procedures.

The website/flyers could involve additional beneficial information such as self-organisation and solidarity strategies in protests (e.g., protecting international passport holders from direct engagement with the police) or further consumer rights (e.g., 2011/83 EU, local consumer rights provisions).

Both topics are especially relevant considering the prevalence and treatment of pro-Palestine protests globally but also here at the UvA and the increasing prevalence of tech and AI in day-to-day consumption, prompting greater degrees of consumer vulnerability.
