Punch Cards

One classroom management strategy my collaborating teacher uses are individual punch cards. The students keep these in their table cadies. If the student is on task, following directions, helping a friend, or any other positive behavior, they can earn a punch in their punch card. When they have earned 10 punches, they get to pick from treasure box.
This is such helpful strategy because students are excited to receive the punch in their card and work towards treasure box. It eliminates the constant need to refill the treasure box.

Table Points

Table points is a great addition to the individual punch cards. This encourages students to work as a team to earn points. She often awards points to the table who had everyone at the page first or the table who clears their books first. The first table who reaches 10 points gets to go to treasure box. When a table reaches 10 points, everyone starts over.
I can see myself using this because its a healthy competition between the students and the teacher is getting what she needs done in a timely manner.

The wheel/ spinner is such a fun classroom management strategy. My collaborating teacher uses it to choose students to answer questions for the most part. The wheel aspect is exciting for the kids, and it eliminates any bias. It also keeps students engaged because they never know when they can be called on while also not being a way to call out a student because they are generally excited to see their number be the picked by the wheel.
I think this wheel could be used for many things because you can write on it and erase. I also think it would be fun to use for rewards.

This is the classroom library. These books can be read by students during free time. These books relate to what students are learning or will be learning. This way students can preview without realizing.
I love using this strategy to help students build background knowledge.

Students are sat at groups of 4. In between each group is a set of drawers. In these drawers' students can find white boards, markers and erasers, and some of their workbooks.
I love this because students aren't constantly in their desks. I could see myself using something like this in the future. You can even have students put completed work in a drawer.

This self is filled with supplies and manipulatives students could need. Most supplies are kept at students' tables, but this supply station make it easy for students to grab something then need if they run out. This shelf also contains manipulatives students can utilize when working independently.
I can see myself using a cubby shelf like this. It helps reinforce organization with students and creates a one stop area for all supplies.
