My favorite video was the one about the origin of Hip-Hop. I loved how it talked about people just vibing to the music away from the violence. I relate to this as whenever I get annoyed or angry I go on a walk and so it seems really cool that people had Hip-Hop back then as a outlet. Also I love parties so that also seems like fun to have a Hip-Hop party. I might host a party with Hip-Hop soon just because of watching this video lol. I also like how in the end of the Grammys the woman got the award and stood up for herself and other female artists, I respect the courage they had. Also just making music is really cool in general, especially standing up as a minority whether it be race or gender in music is a very brave thing to do.

Something I really like about these videos is how it properly displayed the history and beginning of Hip Hop and how women were treated in the Hip Hop community. I liked the comparison to our modern day where we see Doechii represent women and win a grammy.

Something I loved about the videos shown is how Deochii was brave enough to say what she said at the grammys. It really makes her words more powerful, and it probably gave encouragement to so so many people!!

I thought that i was really interesting to see how the first video differed from the second video. This is because the first video talked about how hip-hop was created and how awesome it was while completely glazing over the fact that it was sexist at the time. Therefore I think I liked the 2nd video more than the 1st one because it shows that hip-hop back then was not so simple. I also thought that it was really impressive how women overcame the sexism in the rap industry by simply competing.

Something I really liked about these videos is that they prioritize female empowerment and talk about how women brought the genre of hip hop to another level and how women have continued to thrive in hip hop even though its a male dominated field. Doechii winning the Grammy was a super emotional and powerful speech and I loved how she talked about how only 3 women (including her) have won Best Rap Album since it was introduced as an award in 1995.

Something i like about both the videos is that even though other artists and labels didn't believe in these women, because they thought rap was for men, all of these artists kept trying to become popular by rapping about issues they cared about and soon they did. Even though i wasn't alive at the time of artist's like Roxanna, i do love listening to Doechii and when i saw her win a Grammy, i realized how hard and impressive it is to make it as a female rapper.

Something I liked about these videos is that it brings recognition to places where people don't get recognized. It's cool how Doechii was able to win Rap Album of the Year and to be just the third African American women to receive the award is incredible. I like the origin of Hip-Hop video because it shows there is always a story and a truth behind everything.

Something I really liked about these videos is that they all bring up women empowerment. Like in the second video they talked about how women weren't really included in the world of HipHop, that is was male dominated. But through the actions and choices of strong women they were able to break this boundary, including more women in the rap world. This also happens in the third video where Doechii won a categories that was majority won by males, she told an amazing speech about how women or color can do anything, it was so amazing and empowering.

A common theme in the second and third videos is sexism, like how she was getting denied and unsigned by the people because she was a girl, and then the grammy's only 3 women have won the award over a 35 year span. Afterwards it shows empowerment and how women have helped bring hip hop to where it is today.

These videos remind me of how many industries in our world are male-dominated, and how women still have to push forward and fight to succeed in certain categories. And when they do manage to reach the top, they become role models for young people who have ideas of who they want to be when they grow up but hadn't seen someone like them at the top of the industry. These videos talk about female empowerment and how women have boosted industries to another level.

one thing that I found really interesting after watching the videos back to back, is that the discrimination that was described in the first video, was referenced in the last video the woman was giving her inspiring speech. This is important because I think she said that the category was creating in the 1990's and since that point, only three woman have won. this just show that even though a lot of awareness has been brought up with this issue, there's still a lot of work to be done and we should always be striving for improvement.

Something i really like about these videos is how these women created an image of themselves to escape their situation and continue to give credit to the people who supported them, I never realized how hard it was to make it as a rapper especially as a female the amount of courage it must have took is amazing. these women were able to to push past the limit of how society viewed that rap could only be performed by women. and they are an important factor for what rap is right now.

The videos showed today reminded me of how dedicating your life to something can really make it come true. Both videos showed how women fought through borders that were put over them, and how they were able to achieve something that wasn't seen as possible by others. In this case rap, Doechii was able to fight through, and be the third female rapper to win a grammy. Doechii was able to dedicate her life to rap, and ended up being extremely successful. In the other video showed, Roxanna was able to put females into the rap industry with her music and dedication which is why both these videos really show how dedication can change things.

A common theme that I saw in these videos was how women in rap have always been discouraged, it seems that they have constantly been told that they are not a part of rap, or invalidated in other ways. Now, women are finally starting to be validated, and as we saw in Doechiis acceptance speech, how a lot of women of color stood up, and definitely seemed to relate to what she was saying. What seems common in this video was the connection of women of color being treated as less, but standing up TOGETHER, and acknowledging that this isn't right.

These videos remind me of the second book that Angie Thomas wrote, On the Come Up. Its not as big as The Hate U Give, but its about a young girl who wants to be a rapper, and how she is told the only way to be a rapper is if she pushes the main stream beliefs that she was "from the hood". She played into that at first, because she wanted the fame, before realizing that she didn't want fame for perpetuating ideas that she didn't actually relate to, ideas that misrepresented her.

This seems to really tie into what we watched and learned about today, how people try to push women (of color especially) into these boxes and tell them they have to be something they know they're not.

Something I really like about these videos is how they expressed their love of Hip Hop. A common theme in these videos is how expression can be presented in ways by how much you love them and since the videos represented it, they expressed their vibe and their thing about Hip Hop and that it is part of their identity but also how women empowerment was brought up through the hip hop industry while a lot of the setting is dealt with males and one thing about Doechii is winning the Grammy Awards through a emotional speech while none the less, it brings up awareness how society is viewed how rap was for males but women like Doechii and other 3 women overcame.

Something I really like about these videos is that they included minorities and women into the rap industry. Deochii winning the Grammy award was very emotional because she thanked her mother and the people who supported her journey. It shows that hard work, and effort can lead to success when your art is known despite all of the obstacles women face. These videos remind me that I should put effort into everything because at some point, I will become successful as these artists. Even if you don't know if something is your passion or hobby, you should still try it out because one day, it could turn into a career.

I really like how these videos show their love for Hip Hop. They express it in their own way, making it a big part of their identity. The videos also highlight how women are making their mark in a male-dominated industry. Even though rap has mostly been seen as a guy’s thing, artists like Doechii and others are proving otherwise. Winning a Grammy really shows how far women have come in Hip Hop. It also brings awareness to how society views rap and how these women are changing the game.
