Before the book jumps into major detail about the first violent outburst, it describes the streets and major landmarks of Skidmore. As well as the relationships Ken McElroy had with various women and the citizens of the town. The book continued to explain more things Ken McElroy was doing. Each incident that occurred the stakes got higher and higher. Instead of just making threats he actually carried out most of them. The things he did were gruesome and horrible so I won elaborate on them. All of the illegal and terrible things that were happening were adding up very quickly. As well as the conspiracy of how many people killed him and how they orchestrated the attack. The book explains very well how the evidence explains how Ken theoretically died. To this day, the public does not know the people who killed him. I thought that this was super interesting. The book explains that in theory the people who did 🤬 him have kept it a secret for almost 40 years. Also, the book explains that the ENTIRE town saw it. The people who actually killed him keep it a secret as long as the rest of the town. The entire story is just crazy. It was a cool learning experience because my grandparents and some other family members live in northwest Missouri. Some of them were old enough to have lived through it. Although it was an interesting topic, sometimes the author would go VERY in detail. The long paragraphs with long sentences in them were sometimes hard to read due to lack of focus. I love how futuristic it is. Sometimes you come across a science fiction book that is SO dystopian that there is nothing to relate too. This book strikes a perfect balance between being futuristic and relatable. The narrator, Ender Wiggin, is a cool narrator because he's six years old. Being scared of the "big kids" is something Ender feels often. This fear adds to how relatable the character is because everyone feels that at some point. So far so good. A long stretch of this section was talking about Peter and Valentine. Peter and Valentine are growing closer together because they are both working on a plot to "take over the world". Also, Valentine was interviewed by the principals of the battle school because they needed to get Ender out of his mindset. He was holding himself back because he was upset about the End of The World game.

I have had this book for a long time but I have just now started reading it. In the first chapter it talks about how Berlin was in ruins after WW1 and the downfall of the economy. I WISH that this topic could interest me but it doesn't. I am hoping that the rest of the book will be less boring. My favorite thing about it was how they displayed Ender as a commander of an army. The difficulties he faced and how he compared himself to his previous commanders was a cool way to show his growth. He ends up acting like one of his old commanders (Bonzo). When he becomes aware of his actions he works tirelessly to be a better commander. The ending really shocked me. Although, I feel like the only interesting part was the last 20 pages. Providing an explanation to where they were, who they were with, and their situation all seemed pointless. The author goes into detail but then kills of one of the main characters. This statement shows that Candy wishes he would have shot his own dog because he feels like he is responsible for deciding how he is going to deal with his dog. I think the same logic can be applied to when George shot Lennie. Curley says he's going to "kill the big son-of-a-bitch" and in response George just nodded. I think that George decides to kill Lennie himself because he feels responsible for dealing with him. George has had to be responsible for Lennie for a long time. I think he took it upon himself to kill Lennie because he knew Curley was going to kill him one way or another. Just like how the dog was going to die soon anyway so they shot him to put him out of his misery. I understanding providing context to the situation is important but 2 chapters of context is hard to read.
