We decided to volunteer at Free Tree Society for our community service after group discussion among ourselves as well as our lecturer. We all agreed that this organization is part of the step for a better green living environment in the future. 

Due to the high demand for volunteering at Free Tree Society, we had to do a group booking in advance so that they would know that we're coming. We booked for 3rd Oct,17th Oct,24th Oct (Tuesday) and 7th Oct (Saturday) with the confirmation made with Ms. Baidah.

First, she brought us around the compound to show us the plants that they plant, the handmade compost and fertilizers, and much more. Later on, she taught us how to plant plants with the correct method and also did a demo so that we can help her out. After several tries, we managed to get the hang of it. Ms. Baidah also showed us how to make the fertilizers for the plant as they have their own recipe to make the plants grow healthily. Some of the ingredients include soil, rice husk, dried shrimp, and more.

She divided us into groups so that it will be easier to get the work done on time. Some of us were in charge to help the other volunteers to move the plants to create more space, while some were in charge to make the fertilizers and plant the new plants that was just taught by Ms. Baidah. ]]> 2017-11-08 04:42:32 UTC https://padlet.com/sheng_lyn96/community_service_journal/wish/204671929 sheng_lyn96 https://padlet.com/sheng_lyn96/community_service_journal/wish/205128807 On this day, we managed to reach on time as is was a morning weekend. For the second time, we helped Ms Baidah and her crew to give briefing to the new volunteers. We also helped them familiarise the compound and showed them how to make the prefect soil mixture as Ms Baidah have taught us last Tuesday. 

Later on, Ms Baidah gave us cutting tools as she wanted us to tidy up the grown plants that are growing wild in the front of the garden and the entrance area. After being briefed by Ms Baidah, we started tidying up and also helped each other. Throughout the process, we found ourselves enjoying the experience because we were talking to each other and figuring out what plants and insects were there and scaring each other saying the incest is dangerous when is not.

After 3 hours, we didn't realised that time passed so fast as we were all bonding together through nature. It was a really enjoyable morning. For our 3rd time volunteering in Free Tree Society, we helped Ms Baidah and her crew to touch up and get ready for the raining season. We were all assigned to do planting, rearranging, and many more. 

After 30 minutes, a truck was stopped at the entrance of the compound. We  were all wondering why did the truck suddenly stopped there but we soon realised that the plants that we were rearranging were to be given to nearby schools. We helped them fill up the truck and continued with what we were doing before. 

Ms Baidah assigned a few of us to move the pots for the plants at a designed place as Free Tree Society plants the plant according to the species so that it is easier to categorized them. It was raining in the morning so we had to wait for the rain to stop before we could start. Once the rain stopped, Ms Baidah quickly briefed us for today's agenda. We mixed the soil, plant plants, water plants and many more as they were quite a lot of things to do. 

Before it was time to go back, we took a lot of pictures of the beautiful garden compound and with Ms Baidah. They all thanked us for choosing them to help and volunteer at Free Tree Society and we were all glad that they appreciated us.

Ms Baidah had to go off early so we bid our goodbyes to her and continued to what we were doing. When it was time, we all cleaned the gazebo, gardening tools, buckets and pots and put them back into the storage room. The Free Tree Society members were very kind and was not hesitant to share the knowledge with us as we did not have experience in planting plants.
