Description of Biome: The tropical rain forest is a hot, moist biome found near the Earth's equator. The Tropical Rain forest is one of the world's largest biome and contains a large diversity of plants and animals.

Also, like many forests, the Tropical Rain forest contains a canopy of plant species and animal species that live in the canopy. The canopy of the Tropical Rain Forest is basically a layer of branches and leaves that are overlapping each other. And beneath the canopy is the understory. The understory is a layer of vegetation that is rarely composed to light so they are usually shade resistant.

What is the soil like? The soil is very poor for many reasons. Since rainfall is year round, the soil is stripped from most of its nutrients. It's also poor because the high temperature and moisture causes dead organic matter in the soil to decompose quickly causing it to lose its nutrients.

One symbiotic relationship in the forest is between ants and caterpillars. Some species of caterpillars can produce a sweet dew on their backs and the ants will then eat the dew. The caterpillar is protected by the ants and the ants in return have something to eat. - Mutualism
Another would be a howler monkey and a species of trees. The Trees would provide the animal with shelter and protection from other animals while the tree isn't benefited nor harmed. These two would be classified as Commensalism.
And lastly, Parasitism. Leeches for example are parasites who latch onto animals, or even humans, to extract nutrients from the organism's body. They would excrete a substance onto the bitten skin to allow the blood flow much easily and then drink the blood from the animal. The leech would benefit by gaining nutrients while the host would lose nutrients and blood because of the leech.
