This source is a primary source by Gabriele De' Mussi in Piacenza, in 1348. It is about the terror of the plague hitting the city from the ship going to the port. It shows how it spread from person to person rapidly, and got to priests and doctors that were helping the sick. This quote is showing that no one could be social because they believed that the plague was contagious so once they knew someone close to them had it they wouldn't go near them again because they didn't want to risk there life in getting it themselves. They sometimes used cooked onions with some butter and this too would stop the swelling. The last paragraph in this poem is showing that their death was not painless and nor was the lead up to it, many people were in great pain so if they knew they had it they would have just wanted to die. The fifth paragraph is also showing that what happened to them wasn't friendly and that everyday when many men died their graves had to be dug by humans as there was no special machinery.
