Eddies final moments

In the beginning of the five people you meet in heaven we introduced the main charcter Eddie. We get to know Eddie and how he is in this final moments. He lives in the same town he grow up him and he works as maintenance at Rudy Pier where he was the most growing up. We learn as we read that Eddie was kind and selfless. I picked this part because it just shows how even the small things he was caring about. He give 40 dollars to his co worker Dominguez so he can buy something nice for his wife. I picked this because that is just such a sweet thing to do, and it was his birthday and he was still worrying about others on his day.

Eddie feels young again

In the chapter "The Arrival" Eddie had died because he went to save a little girl from a cart from a ride to fall on her but instead it fell on him. Eddie was dead, but he was back to his to child like self. He didn't need his cane and his knee wasn't bad anymore. This is important when he meets the first person he was a child on earth.

The Blue Man

When Eddie meets the first person the Blue man he is wondering why he is the first person he meets. Well The Blue man gets into his life story and how he became blue. He would work with his dad but was always nervous and one time the boss was yelling at him and he peed himself and his dad looked ashamed at him. Later the Blue man would find out his dad also wets the bed as well. He would go to a chemist for his nerves and drinked silver nitrate and turned blue. I think is is important because to tells us how he joined the freak show and moved to Rudy piers.

The lesson

After Eddie finds out how he killed the Blue man it goes into his lesson. The Lesson here it anything you do no matter what something can happen. Every little thing like Eddie going to get his ball. Saved his life but killed the blue man. All lives are connected and nothing is completely random and everything happens for a reason.

Eddie meets the second person

When Eddie is done with talking to the blueman he is taken back to the war. When there he meets his captain. When him and 4 other people were taken at hostage one being the captain. When they are taken hostage they are forced to work in the coal mines to help the bad guys. When in the mines one of them get sicks and Eddie trys to tell them that he's sick so the bad guy shoot and killed him. This is when Eddie and the Captain had enough and knew they had to escape.

Captain reavels a secret

When Eddie relives the time they escaped being hostages they are burning the place down. One of the places is a barn. Eddie see someone in the barn. A little girl. He trying to get into the barn that's on fire and everyone is trying to stop him but he's too strong. The only think the captain thinks he can do it shoot him, and he does. He shoots him in the knee. When bringing him back to camp the captain steps on a landmine and dies. So Eddie had to walk with a limp and a cane because of the Captain. This is where Eddie finds out that it was captain that gave him his bad knee.

The person in the barn

When Eddie was burning the barn down he see someone in the barn. He wants to save them. He was done with the killing and the blood. He wanted to do something good. He was convinced there was someone in there to save. He wanted to keep the pieces of the war and of Rabozzo and himself. He need to save this person no matter what.

The Second Lesson

Eddie is now learning his second lesson. He learns from his captain that Sacrifice is the best thing anyone can do. The Captain Saceifice his life for everyone. Like Eddie Sacrifice his knee so he can live. Like Rabozzo didn't die for nothing. Sacrifice is the most noble thing anyone can do.

Eddie and his Father

Now that Eddie is done talking to his captain hes goes on to meet the first person. He doesnt know who this person is but he can see his dad though the window of a diner and he remembers how bad his dad treated him though out his life. How his dad was never really there for him. Yes he lived with him but he still never proud of him or gave him praise when he did something good. His dad would neglect him. His father never showed his love. Eddie would so anythingg for his father to show him love. He wanted to do anything to make his father proud.

Eddie meets the third person

When Eddie is down thinking about all the times with his father he finally meets the third person. But, he didnt know this person. It was a women who didn't want him to be mad at his dad. She tells him that you make your own peace not others. She goes on to tell Eddie her story with her husband and how she met him and how much they loved eachother. Her Husband Emile is that one who built Ruby Pier. He named the pier after his wife Rudy. Rudy was Eddies third person. Ruby Pier is where he spent all his life working at. Besides the war. Ruby Pier was all Eddie ever really knew. It was his home for so many years.

Eddie's Father

Ruby is sawing Eddie a moment in time where his mother and Mickey were in their house. His mother went to get dressed and Mickey came in and tried to force himself on her. His father came home and saw what Mickey was doing and he had a hammer. Eddies father ran after him just to find Mickey in the middle of the ocean by Ruby Pier. Even after what Mickey had done his father still chose to go out and save Mickey . Eddies father later gets pneumonia from swimming in the cold water and later dies from that. Eddie's father went into the water out of loyalty of Mickey and how long they have been friends.

Eddies Lesson

In Eddies third lesson he learns to forgive and loyalty. Like Eddied dad forgave Mickey and showed his loyalty to Mickey by saving him. Rudy goes on to tell him "No one is born with anger... You must understand why you felt what you did, and why you no longer need to feel it." I really like what she said because forgiveness is not just for the other person but also yourself. To move on you have to forgive people. Even after everything his father did to him he was still loyal to his dad.

Eddie meets his fourth person

After Eddie forgive his father he moves onto his fourth person. He is taken to a wedding. The n he goes though another door just to be taken to another wedding. It is the wedding different cultures. So each wedding is different from the other. This is where he is taken to an Italian wedding. And a young women in her mid 20 come up to him. Once he smells his perfume he knew it was her. His wife. This fourth person is his wife. The person he loved the most. He was alone for many years after she died. She died young. But he is with her right now.

Eddie and his wife

Eddie and his wife talk for a bit. They visit different weddings. Eddie missed her so much. He still had so much love for her. His wife tell him after everything they still loved each other even after Eddie won 800 and she was mad, but went to go apologizing got a car crash and was bedridden for six months they still loved each other even if they weren’t showing it under the surface they still loved each other. So even after she died he still love her. When life ends love is still there. After a while memory is your love. They still live in your mind.

Eddie meets his fifth person

After Eddie met with his wife and moves on to his fifth person. He hears a tremor of noise. He doesn’t know where it’s coming from. His body was near his end. But that sound keeping coming back. He see a bunch of kids. There is no adults or teenagers. There is one kid who stood apart of the group. She waves and smiles at him. He was standing in front of her now.

Eddies last lesson

After Eddie meets the little girl named Tala they try to communicate with each other. she looks very young but also so mature. Was confused at first when she said you burned me. He didn’t know what she meant by that but then it clicked for him. There was someone in that barn that burned down when he was in war. He wasn’t imagining it. She was the person that burned with the barn. He pretty much killed her. The lesson I took from this was to ask for forgiveness. You never know who you can hurt or what you do sometimes. Overall I really liked this book I actually enjoyed reading it.
