But if you're handy with a needle and thread and have a creative talent then making homemade costumes can be great fun and very satisfying. Your pattern is the starting point of your outfit. There are some excellent online stores where you can choose from a wide range of costumes. Men, women's and children's fancy dress are all available. Simplicity and McCall’s have a good choice. Find a good online store and order the correct size. If you need some help give the store a call and ask for some advice, most stores are happy to help. Choosing material online is easier if you are familiar with sewing. There will be recommendations on the reverse of your pattern to give you advice on which material to choose.<br><br></div><div>Hand Embroidered Lace may use elaborate fabrics, so if you're a complete beginner enlist the help of a mum or aunt who knows how to sew and is familiar with available material. They'll be able to give excellent advice on everything from choosing your material to putting your costume together. Over the last couple of decades we have seen the decline of the fabric shop on the high street. The demand for material and sewing threads has lessened due to working mums and busy lifestyles, but we are seeing a revival of many sewing and craft hobbies. Textiles woven from locally grown cotton, sheep and camel wool, jute, flax, silk, mud cloth, rayon, suede, lace, brocade, polyester, wax print, batik, Ketene, Kenta cloth etc. are quite characteristic of Africa. Even children are skilled in the art of weaving. Both single and double-heddle looms are used for weaving; however, ground looms are also used in some parts of Africa. Use of brightly colored threads and vegetable and mineral dyes are two most popular attributes of African fashion clothing. Most designs used for beautifying the fabrics have specific names and vary from plants, animals, events, proverbs, tribal rituals to various scripts. African textiles draw their inspiration from the rich African cultural heritage which came to America along with slave trade. Many slaves were skilled in weaving. People have found remnants of ancient and earliest African fashion clothing in various parts of Africa. Ancient African clothing was made from tree bark and animal hides or furs.<br><br></div><div>African George fabric are strictly traditional, following typical African motifs and earthy colors.
