Adnan's cell phone call log from January 13th, 1999 was used as evidence by the state to show where Adnan at what time. However, according to the cell record information sheet, the incoming calls are not reliable for location evidence.
Another thing about this case: After hearing Jay's story, the state just tried matching any evidence and the calls from the call log to the story. They work backwards to help support Jay's story instead of the other way around. Justice was not wholly served, and the truth is still yet to be uncovered.

In conclusion, it is obvious that justice was not served in the case of the state vs Adnan Syed. The real murderer of Hae Min Lee is currently out and free, while Adnan has spent more than half of his life in prison for a crime he did not commit. There are multiple sketchy and unsatisfactory aspects of this case. Let's take a look at a few of them to recap:

1. Lack of investigation: The state basically stopped looking for suspects after Jay came forward with his story. The majority of evidence that they uncovered was not even DNA tested. And any evidence they did find, was only used if it supported Jay's version of events.

2. Suspicious people: It is clear that Jay should have been looked at more as a suspect rather than the innocent man that had no choice but to assist a murderer. Plus, Don is an extremely sketchy figure. His alibi is not even close to airtight, and the only person backing him up for it is his own mother.

3. Reasonable doubt: There is an abundance of reasonable doubt in the case of the State vs. Adnan Syed. There is no way he should have been convicted as the murderer of Hae Min Lee because there were multiple things that made him sem innocent. Pretty much the only thing he had against him is Jay Wild's story. So what happened to innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt?

Overall, Adnan Syed is clearly an innocent man, who simply happens to be extremely unlucky.

Here are some of the inconsistencies that show up in Jay Wild's stories of what happened on January 13th, 1999:

1. The times: Each time Jay tells his story, he changes the time of when each of the events occur throughout the day. You might think, Well that's understandable. He is being asked to recall a day from more than 6 weeks back. But the thing is, these times change drastically. For example, in his first interview, Jay says he drops Adnan off at track practice at 4:30. In the second interview, he drops him off at 5:10. And in the third story, he drops him off at 5:15. This is about a 45 minute difference.

2. The location of where Jay first sees Hae's dead body: In the first story, it's at Edmondson Avenue. In the second and third stories, he sees it in the Best Buy parking lot. And in his interview with intercept, he sees it outside his grandmother's house. Intriguing, isn't it?

3. Patapsco State Park: In his second interview, Jay claims he and Adnan smoke a blunt at Patapsco State Park. The in each of his other stories, this never happens. So why include it in the first place?

Of course, these are only a few. It is obvious that Jay is untrustworthy and unreliable. Now, an innocent man has to spend the rest of his life in jail only because of this guy's stories.

It is obvious that the state simply wanted to have someone that they'd be able to convict, and only try to find evidence that helps to back up Jay's story. In fact, his story did not even match the cell tower evidence "at first". In the time between when Jay first steps into the police station to when he finally gets recorded for his interview, the detectives most likely helped him out in crafting a believable story. You can even hear tapping in his interviews that probably comes from the detectives pointing at the map of Woodlawn each time Jay forgot what to say.

Kristi says Jay and Adnan only came to her house once, while Jay insists that they went twice. She also is now sure that these events could not have taken place on the 13th on January 1999. A look back at her schedule from that day makes her certain that she would not have been home that evening because she had an important test to take that she would not miss.

While it may not be the only reason Adnan was convicted, racism did pay a major role in it. Basically, the court did not grant him bail because he was Muslim.

Declining the Plea Deal

It is understandable that Adnan Syed would seriously consider a plea deal after spending so much of his life in prison for a crime he did not commit. However, he declines the deal he is offered that involved serving four more years of jail. This shows that Adnan definitely did not kill Hae Min Lee, otherwise he would have accepted the offer.
