For some people, college can be a life changing experience. It is a place where you leave your old high school self behind, and discover the person you really are. In college, receiving a roommate can make or break that situation as well. You're given months in advance to reach out to your soon to be roommate to get to know them, and maybe even hang out before the big day. For some people, your roommate can either be your best friend, or your enemy. In my experience, I chose to participate in the random roommate choosing and in this case, I was stuck with someone I didn’t get along with. After three months of living together, I decided I couldn’t handle it anymore. I chose to room with one of my friends I had met throughout the weeks being here because she is someone I got along with very well. Experiencing the difference between my old roommate and my new roommate led me from having an enemy to having a best friend.

Sometimes people need to go through the struggle in order to realize how important certain things are. College is something that many don’t consider, especially where I’m from. Society today, has made me realize how important it is for me to attend college. Although I was afraid to do so, I knew this is how I’ll reach my goal of becoming a nurse and becoming very successful.

Life is a rollercoaster with plenty of ups and downs. The change between the two can happen in a blink of an eye. One minute things are great and you don't have a care in the world. Then, without warning, a life changing event can turn your world upside down. Sometimes these events can be too much to handle and you need an outlet to channel your emotions. In my own personal experiences I turned to a simple game that helped cope with my problems. That game was billiards.

Parents are determined to engrave in their children’s mind to go to college; to make something of themselves. If you don’t go to college, you are looked down upon and your source of employment is limited. I wasn’t very interested in going to college. The only reason I was going was to make my family happy. I also didn't want to be stuck with a job that I knew I wouldn't like. What I had realized in my early college career is the potential and integrity that I hadn't seen in myself before.

At a young age I took life for granite. Life showed me that not everyone gets away as smoothly as I do. It happened to a very important person to me. She suffered through it for well over a year. As she fought for her life she became very close to me. Hannah was one that always stayed positive even through the roughest points in her life. If I had a bad day, it was the end of the world, and she’d be there for me. I had never thought what she was going through was going to slowly bring her down. It made me realize that life was too short to just throw away everyday. Hannah had been diagnosed with leukemia and had to fight everyday for her life.
