University Choices and reasons for choices

Choice one
Commercial Photography
-Arts University Bournemouth
- You can chose to complete your degree in one of the following awards:
- BA (Hons) Commercial Photography (Advertisement)
- BA (Hons) Commercial Photography (Fashion)
- BA (Hons) Commercial Photography (Documentary/Editorial)
Qualification - Bachelor of Arts (With Honour)
Full Time - 3 years UCAS Points- 120 points English - C
Reason:
At least one A level relevant to course. £9,250 per year
The Arts University of Bournemouth is a creative specialist, offering courses in art, design, media and performance, with an emphasis on collaboration within and between courses and with industry. its closes creative community is based on a single, award-winning campus, surrounded by the New Forest and the beaches of the World Heritage Jurassic Coast, with London just two hours away. One reason why i would like to attend this university is that it is specialised for the subject that I want to study. This will help me level up in my knowledge in this field and pursue a job in the industry after my years at university. Some of the things that will hold me back from this university is that it is a two hour journey back home, and there is a limited amount of accommodation at this university, so there is a chance that I will have to share a student house. Some of the resources that this university has is a Library that contains 95,000 books, e-books, 5000 dvd's, 144 group study places, 100 individual work spaces, 50 macs and a tv/dvd viewing room. This alone will help me in the years if I was to study there. Other things that the university has is a Museum of design plastics, a gallery showcase and a drawing studio.
Action points:

Choice Two
Creative Media Production (TV and Film)
-West Thames College
Qualification - Higher level Diploma
study mode - Full time, 2 years, £5000 per year
Reason:
West Thames College is a vibrant college of further education. The colleges aim is to update skills for any of the range of courses and apprenticeships. The current course that I would like to addend at this college is a creative media production of tv and film. On the college's website it averages that graduates that go into arts officers, producers and director get around £24,700-£45,800 a year, advertising accounts managers and creative directors will get around £22,900-£51,300 a year and lastly graphic designers get around £18,200-£32,800 a year. One reason why I would attend this college is that it is local. This would mean that I wouldn't need to get accommodation. One downfall to this course is that it is a College, this means that there is no accommodation for any student. Also, as it is a College, there wont be as many facilities around specific to my course.

Choice three
Media Studies University of Brighton
Qualification - Bachelor of Arts (with Honours) - BA (Hons)
Study mode - Full time, 3 years Location - Brighton
Entry level - 112-196 UCAS tariff points.
Reason:
If I was to attend this University to study media I will learn with a team of research active lecturers, industry-experienced staff and visiting media professionals, including producers, journalists and digital media entrepreneurs. One reason why I would attend this University is that Brighton is an ideal place to study professional media of all kinds: it is a centre of creativity, a magnet for media companies and freelancing professionals and home to an annual digital media festival. It also says that 90% of pass students got a job in the industry that they wanted. This statistic is pretty high. However, one reason why I wouldn't go to this university is because in the first year only 8% is practical work, the second year 27%, and the last year 14%, the rest is coursework. I wouldn't want to attend this university for this reason as I would prefer somewhere that is more practical work. This university also offers a hall of residence across the city in Grand Parade, Moulsecoomb, Varley Park and Falmer. This is a loads of space for people that live far away can live whilst studying at the university.

Choice four
Media Studies
University - Bangor University
Qualification - Master of Arts - MArts (Hons)
Study mode - Full time, 4 years
Location - Main site of the university Entry points; 104-120 UCAS Tariff points
Reason:
The School of Creative Studies and Media is unique in its close integration of academic and theoretical approaches with hands-on creative practice. Students in the School have the opportunity at all levels to combine a study of their chosen field with practice-based outcomes such as writing, performance, and media/digital media production. One reason why I would like to study at this university is because they have a dedicated media centre with a multi-camera television studio and large production gallery. This would be great to study around as it will help me understand how a tv studio works so that I will have some sort of idea if I was to continue in the television field after I leave university. Also this university is amongst the top ten universities for student satisfaction. One reason why I would not attend this university is because it is slightly too far away from what I can comfortable with a 4 and a half hour journey by train home and back to the university.

Choice five
Film & Screen Studies/Media Communication
University - Bath Spa University
Qualification - Bachelor of Arts (With Honours) or Bachelor of Science (with honours) BA/BSc (H)
Study mode - Full time, 3 years
Location - Main site of the University
Reason;
You’ll develop intellectual, analytical, research and creative skills that will help you to prepare for employment and have the opportunity to engage in practical filmmaking projects if you wish. The way that I will be assessed if I was to go to this university is by essays, research reports, journals, group presentations and portfolios. This will be familiar as these are some of the things we get assessed by in college. The course module for the first year includes; the moving image, film history, film theory, framing film; silence, sound and spectacle, introduction to television, digital practise, introduction to sound and camera part one and two. Some of these modules seem interesting to study, however not all of them I am interested in. This course however offers a study Erasmus Scheme. This is where a student can chose from 25 partners across Europe, including Denmark, Spain, Italy, Finland and Germany. This will be great to see how other places work and study the media industry. One reason why I would not attend this University is because it is slightly out of the travel zone I am comfortable with.

Overall I think that my show reel looks very professional as I added in lots of clips from my pass projects. I also made sure that I cut my clips to meet the beat of the song that I chose for my show reel. I added in a lot of different types of shots in my show reel to show the skills that I have learnt in this course, these would include; long shots, extreme close ups, pans and tracking shots. I used video clips from my past projects. These include; advertisement, vlogs and two short films. Other clips are practise work that involve knowing how to set up a good interview with three point lighting. I feel like there are a few clips that link with the next clips. An example of this is when the clips from my advertisement project (the drawing of the man with a light bulb above his head) links in with the next shot where our actor Evan gets an idea.

Arts university of Bournemouth
For this university we took a two hour coach from our college to the university. One thing that I liked about this university was the main campus was really nice and independent. However the tour that we went on during our time at bournemouth we did not get to see what the student accomodation so I wouldn't know what it would be like to live there for around two to three years.
Southbank University Arts and Creative Industries
At this university I got to get a good look at to what the course the had for offer by taking us in groups to have a 'taster' lesson. However I didn't like the building itself as it was so confusing to get around with too many small corridors. If I was to look into this being a potential university I would be worried about making my way around.
