Please remember that any educational assistant time used as general supervision and not related to individual student goals comes out of educational time (classroom time) with students.

K-4 and even 5 and 6 teachers typically spend a significant amount of time at recess AND lunch in contact with students. Instead of getting too focused on numbers, I would ask, “is everyone getting what they need?” I’ve never considered recess to be a prep, but more of a break. The nature of prep time and recess time is different.

The question then becomes, which hairs do you split. Some groups are more challenging than others, some groups are larger than others... at what point do we say 'fair is not equal'
