Especially middle schoolers as their brains developmentally cannot take more than 15 minutes of one thing before they need do to something different. They become a distraction to the student using it, others around them and the teacher(s). They can also cause other issues during the school day such as sending inappropriate communication (texts, snapchats, etc), posting on tiktok, recording video or taking pictures of others that are not warranted. I believe students should be focused on their work during the school day. If they need to contact a parent or guardian, they can go to the front office to do so. Same goes for a parent or guardian. If they need to get in contact with their child, they can contact the front office. Students at my school already use Chromebooks, so they do not need the added layer of having access to texts and social media during the school day.
