Title: Who was George Washington

Year of publication: 2017
Number of pages:101
Genre: Non-Fiction
Main characters: George Washington
What is a book about?
1783 After seven long years of fighting, the war was finally over. American soldiers had beaten the mighty British army. The thirteen colonies were independent now. Ships full of British soldiers back to the England. From here on in, nobody in America had to obey king George. There was going to be a brand-new country with thirteen united states. And in 1789 when it came time to elect the first president, who was the George Washington. George Washington had been the top general throughout the war. He was not the kind of general who just gave orders and then watched soldiers do the fighting; he was often in the thick of battle. Yet Washington was never wounded, not once! Besides being brave, he was also smart, loyal, honest, and fair everything a leader should be. Many people didn't think the war have been won without him. It was not surprise that he won the first election for president. But when he learned the news, he was not happy. Oh, no. He wasn't happy at all. He loved being back in Virginia, at Mount Vernon, his beautiful home.

He was fifty-seven years old and hoped to spend the rest of his life there with his wife, Martha, and her two youngest grand-children. As the very first president, so much would be expected of him. And strange as it may seen to us, George Washington worried that he wasn't up to the job. No, the job of president was not at all to his liking. But many people said they would only support the new government if George Washington were president. and more than anything, he wanted the new government to work. So he said yes and started off for New York, where he would take the oath of office.
At every stop along the way, there were parties and parades for him. Just what George didn't want. Today politicians may spend years planning to run for president. Millions of dollars are spent on campaigns. Yet the man who is known as "the father of our country" felt like "a criminal going off to his execution." All he wanted was to stay home and go fox hunting!

Title : Pegasus Olympus At War
Author : Kate O'Hearn
Illustrator : Jason Chan
Publisher : ALADDIN
Year of Publication : 2014
Number of Pages : 389
Genre : Fiction
Main Characters : Emily, Pegasus, Joel and Palean.

What was the book about?
Emily Jacob's life changed forever the day Pegasus crashed into the roof of her apartment building. Suddenly she was swept up in a battle to save Olympus and the Gods, far away from her normal life in New York City. Now she's living on Mount Olympus with her friends Joel, Paelen and, of course, Pegasus. the only person missing is her father, who is being held prisoner by a mysterious government agency back in the human world. Emily is desperate to go find him, but Jupiter won't allow her to leave. However, Emily does happen to know a certain winged horse... But when a gruesome new invasion of Olympus begins, Emily and her friends find their loyalties tested as old grudges are unearthed and new enemies are discovered.

What is your opinion about this book?
I like the book.
My favourite part in this book is when Emily went to Olympus and saw many cool and amazing lands. Also when Emily and her friends went on an adventure to find her father back into the human world.
My unlikely part in this book was when Olympus was at a war, because I wanted Olympus to be peaceful and a safe place to live.
I learned that if you never give up you will always be able to go further, just like Emily and her friends won't give up on finding her father.

I would recommend this book to my friends who likes reading Adventure books. And it is also because you can imagine the words said in the book.

What is the book about?
The research that I conducted talked about animal testing. It was explained about how it is done and the reasons behind why it should be done. Different people, different opinions whether it should be done or not, even other ways to test products but not on animals. Some reasons include testing animals as models for humans, for advance scientific understanding and more.
Medical and chemical experiments are done to animals. Even cosmetics that we use are tested on animals first.

What is your opinion about the book?
While many believe that there is a need for animal testing to be done, I believe that we could do further research or scientific studies in a different way. In our current situation, things are changing. Technology is rapidly getting better. I feel a need to use that to build robots or gadgets that could somehow show results of these tests. If it were to happen that testing or experiments would not be done, safety for us humans wouldn't be present. As someone who is always concerned about what I am using or consuming, I feel that there is a need for testing. I wouldn't buy a product if it wasn't previously tested. However, animals are living things too. They can feel pain and suffer through these processes. We should all think further about animal testing, and what an impact it might give.

Would you recommend this book to a friend?
Yes, I would. This is so that more people can be aware of what is happening before we buy products from stores. This way, more people can be aware of what they are buying and processes happening in the making of the products.

Of course there are other ways of testing with our technology, but there can be mistakes. The results are not as reliable and true as testing on an animal.
someone who thinks we should not:
Animals are God's creation they are still alive they can still live but if there is a mistakes in animal testing they might be get in hurt or might they will die.

What is the book about?
It is about how animal testing is done and what we can do to prevent it. Animal Testing to some people and cruel to do. Animals are living things like us so we must stand up to this. It shows sides, one side thinks animal testing is cruel and harmful and unneccesary and the other one shows that it is important.

People comment that there should be an alternative to this action but some say that it is necessary and what producers are doing is right. Few sources say that there is another way to animal testing such as paying people to test on them and whatever happens is not their responsibility because they have paid the person.

What is your opinion about the book?
My opinion about animal testing is that people should think what they are doing to these animals they are testing and find an alternative way to test products and foods if it is safe to use/eat.

Were there any proverbs or figurative expressions?
No, there was no figurative expressions.

It is about if animal testing should be done before selling them to consumers. Some people say that it is necessary to test the products on animals therefore some people were against animal testing. The rest of them prefer alternative ways to test the products.
It is also possible that animal testing can lead to animal extinction because many animals died at the end of the experiment.
If the testing uses a robot it could cost millions of dollars even to billion of dollars. The cost expenses made some companies not able to afford it.

What is my opinion about this book?
I think animal testing should be done because it is more accurate than robots. Because robots can be programmed wrongly or error

Genre: Realistic fiction

Setting: Hotel Splendido Marvellousa, New York

What is the book about?
The book talks about the life of a famous film star, named Ellie May, and the story follows her around as she travels to New York. She meets people along her way, and she is trusted to keep a secret by them. However, Ellie May cannot keep such secrets to herself. As she struggles to make a name for herself, she tries to keep up with other famous people and discover a secret of Kiko, another famous actress and singer. If she cannot keep this to herself, the public would find out and many things would happen to Kiko. Ellie May had been trying hard to be able to do everything other people can and she realizes that she can't. Readers can feel what it would be like to be a famous person. By seeing Ellie May's, living the life of a famous person is not always easy, especially because of the drama.

What is your opinion about the book?
It was great to be able to read this book since I had always wanted to know how it would feel to be famous. I, too, know how hard it is to keep a secret. Ellie May is going through the same thing. I like how there are a lot of dialogues to show how the characters really felt. The problems were also understandable to me.
What lessons that you learned from it?
When a person trusts you, they count on you, so don't take it for granted, or else it would be hard to regain trust from someone, especially if you failed to do what they expected you to do.

Kassandra's Reflection
This morning I learned to use kind words instead of unkind words. I learnt to be a good person from now until I grow up. Also I learnt to not insult other people or either be mean to others. Because I know if I'm mean to others I won't have lots of friends and no one will like me at the end. I learnt not to bully others whether it's online or either in any public place also not to tease others, even though I don't like him/her, it doesn't mean I have to bully or make fun of him/her. I learnt to respect others by using kind words instead of unkind words, whether it's in public or online. I should be able to speak up and stand up for myself and stay strong. I also learnt that my hands are kept for my self and not to hit or touch other people, whether they like it or they don't. And when someone tries to bully me, I can just simply walk away and approach a teacher and tell them that I've been bullied by someone. Lastly I learnt to be fair. Like we have this mini court and we decided the boys to play every break and the girls to play every lunch. but it doesn't matter about the gender. It matters to take turns and to be fair. I'm so thankful that I've learned this, and I'll apply this in my life forever until I grow up.

Dave's Reflection
This morning, I learnt that I must use my language skills to say nice things instead of insulting others. I also learnt that if someone is bullying me or gossips about me I can just simply walk away and report to any teachers because they are the police at school. I also learnt about netiquette, I cannot bully my friends in form of chat groups or social media. When someone bullies me I will stand up for my self and speak the right thing.

Diandra's Reflection
From today's talk, I learned that instead of insulting others, I can use my language skills to ask properly. I also learned that my hands are kept for myself, and if other people do not think so too for themselves, I can simply walk away and approach a teacher. In addition, I learned that I must follow the netiquette (internet etiquette) when communicating through social media or any other forms of chatting. I should be able to speak up and stand for what is right even when everyone else is wrong. Last but not least, is that we should not set aside other people different than ourselves and put ourselves higher than them. I must know that everyone has a right in the school, and sharing is caring. I will apply what i learned today in my daily life, and see how it changes the condition, and whether it affects others too.

Publisher: Square Enix
Year of publication: 2017
Number of pages: 223 pages
Genre: Fiction
Main Characters: Yuki Hase andKaori Fujimiya
Setting: Japan
What is the book about?
High school student and aspiring artist Yuki Hase falls in love at first sight with Kaori Fujimiya after the latter narrowly manages to pass down a borrowed French dictionary Yuki left behind inside a train. To his joy, Yuki learns that he and Kaori share class for their second year. However, Kaori seems to have forgotten their meeting. When he introduces himself again, she rejects his offer of friendship. Yuki later finds out that she has similarly rejected other offers since her transfer 3 months ago and is thus regarded as a pariah within the school. Nevertheless, Yuki strives for Kaori's friendship, gaining the attention of his teacher, Mr. Inoue. Inoue tells him that due to an accident, Kaori suffers from both retrograde and anterograde amnesia; any memory other than that of her parents is suppressed after a week. Undaunted, Yuki has made up his mind to become Kaori's friend in anyway. To remind her of him and other things, he gives her a shared journal, where the two can share their memories every week. By this method, the two slowly grow closer and Kaori becomes more and more open.

The next two spring seasons, Yuki and Kaori graduate. Kaori is called to the library to return a book, which turns out to be the French dictionary Yuki had borrowed a year ago using her member card. She learns that Yuki has illustrated the content of their shared journal into flip book drawings inside the dictionary. Finally remembering him, she rushes to meet him and asks to be his friend, an offer he accepts.

 Claudya's Reflection
This morning, I learnt to be a good human being. I learnt to defend myself against other people and have integrity. Starting now I will stop kicking other people and do what is right to me, I won't care what others say about me, whether it is bullying or a not-so-funny joke, but I will still defend myself because when I grow up I will always have to do things myself, I won't have my helper or mother do it.

Title: Eden's Wish
Author: M. Tara Crowl
Illustrator: Whitney Manger
Publisher: Disney Hyperion
Year of publication: 2015
Number of pages: 264 pages
Genre: Fiction - Fantasy
Main Characters: Eden, Sasha, and Tyler.
Setting: The lamp, San Diego, the Rockwell's house, and Mission Beach Middle School.

What is the book about?
All twelve years of Eden's life was to travel, grant wishes, then head back to her antique lamp - her home. She lives like a princess in her tiny luxurious home, but to her, the lamp was like a prison. Eden hates being a genie. Freedom has been always the number one in her wishlist. So when she discovers a gateway to Earth, she takes this advantage to enter the world she was fond of. And this time, she wasn't going back after 3 wishes.

Eden makes friends with Sasha and Tyler who welcomed Eden to their home and introduce her to San Diego. Eden attends Mission Beach Middle. She enjoyed Earth's pleasures- until her masters warned her to go back to lamp before evil hands took possession of the lamp. Eden didn't take notice of their warning, until a group of genie alumni called the Loyals came to demand Eden to go back to the lamp. Eden refused, as going back to the lamp meant imprisonment. Eden tried to avoid them, but then another group-that were once genies but then decided to break their bonds with the lamp- called the Electra offered Eden to break her ties with the lamp too, so that she could be free. Eden soon discovers that Electra were only trying to get Eden's lamp and bracelet to conquer Earth. Eden then decides to go back to the lamp for the safety of Earth and the genies.

What is your opinion about the book? I like this book a lot, especially the part when Electra and The Loyals were dueling with each other.
What lessons that you learned from it? I learned that the place that you belong to doesn't change who you are. It's okay to be a doctor when your family was famous for writing books, for example. This is a valuable lesson.
Were there any proverbs or figurative expressions? Yes.
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Yes.
