Scenario 1- Yvonne and Maude
Yvonne responds professionally to Maude, she would have been justified if she had gotten angry but she didn’t. She kept her professionalism. She smiled, went down to her level and introduced herself to Maude. It would be best if Maude’s conduct be reported to the Nurse. Also, looking at Maude’s perspective it’s important to take into account her age and the possibility she might have dementia.

Scenario 2 -
In this scenario, it would be best to pull the Nurse to the side and politely ask “Is it okay if you speak a little bit slowly, I’m having difficulty understanding”. We could also look at other forms of communication and see whether she’d feel more comfortable to write things down.

Scenario 3 -
The patient suffers from schizophrenia and it appears he’s in a delusional state at the moment and the nurse has instructed us to get his symptoms and how’s he’s feeling at the moment we are unable to do that right now. So it would be best we report this to the nurse and look at alternatives ways to get the information from the patient. Alternatively, we could also use a persuasive approach to get the patient to tell us how he’s feeling.

Scenario 4-
Reassuring the student that the University provides help with students suffering from difficulties with their academics.
The student should undergo a test for dyslexia and alternatively he could record himself instead of taking notes. The student could speak to the academic advisor so that their aware of it and if he does need that support he’s made initial contact.

Scenario 5-
The patient is suffering from abdominal pain and this could be the side effect of his medication. The Nurse could recommend him for a scan and see the true cause of his pain.
