Pros: Allows students to make connections to the speech and text. Free and easy to use. Provides missing information when speakers have an accent or speak quickly or unclearly. Provides support for students who are hard of hearing.

Cons: Can be difficult for low readers to follow along with text that may be too difficult to read. Sometimes closed-captioning can misinterpret what is being said, which can confuse students or even be inappropriate.

How will the teachers use this technology?
Teachers can use this with any video they want to show as a whole class, individual usage or small group. Teachers push the CC button below a video and closed-captioning appears.

How will students use this technology?
Students can read the text while listening to the audio. Students can be provided with the link to the video and rewatch it at their own pace and as many times as needed with the ability to pause the video as well.

How does remote learning affect the use of this technology?
This technology is easily used remotely by teaching students where to find the CC button on a video or by having the teacher present to students at home with the closed-captioning on.

Pros: Allows students to focus their attention on learning, rather than the discomfort of traditional classroom furniture. A large variety of options can be made available for students needs. Can help keep students engaged in learning. Give opportunities for movement while learning.

Cons: Funding can be difficult to afford flexible seating options. Rules for all flexible seating needs to firmly be set in the classroom before use to ensure safety and learning disruptions for others.

How will the teachers use this technology?
Teachers can decide where to place the flexible seating in the classroom to best suit their needs and the needs of their individual students to provide the best learning environment. Teachers can always change or take away seating that is not working for the class or individuals.

How will students use this technology?
Students can choose the flexible seating that is most conducive to their needs and give them more freedom in deciding how they learn best. Students will learn to follow rules with the flexible seating while also focusing on their learning. Students can become excited about coming to their classroom and learning with a feeling of freedom and ownership.

How does remote learning affect the use of this technology?
Flexible seating in the classroom does not work at all for remote learning because students are not able to access it from home, but the concept of flexible seating can be applied to learning at home by the teacher by allowing the to choose their most comfortable are in their home for them to learn and allow them to move and change that position or area throughout the day.

Teachers can make the mistake of designing graphic organizers that are too confusing or too easy or too difficult.

How will the teachers use this technology?
Teachers will use this as needed for any lessons to help students record their thoughts and ideas or break down given and learned information. This can make the information easier to process to learn and also take the fear out of writing away for many students.

How will students use this technology?
Students will utilize this technology for lessons as an option when provided by the teacher to assist them when learning or planning their writing.

How does remote learning affect the use of this technology?
This technology is easily used remotely by posting a graphic organizer that can be typed on or printed and written on at home (if students are able).
