The story of the movie is about at boy named Magnifico being born into a rather poor household. One morning, his grandmother fell down their roof after retrieving a kite that gotten stuck. When his grandmother was rushed into the hospital, it was discovered that she had cancer. Due to his family struggles, Magnifico had to persevere and make great leaps in order to prepare his grandmother for her funeral.

The movie has a very interesting story line that is filled with hardships that are common in the Philippines. It caters well to all audiences and introduces certain topics in our country. The only draw back that the movie has is the music choice in some scenes.

The most powerful scene that I saw in the movie is where Magnifico. Was about to get buried and we get to see the sadness of his family and the people whose lives he has touched through his kind heartedness. This scene shows how his golden heart changed the people around him to be a better version of themselves, he also showed the people in his life that hate is not something that we should dwell on.

The glaring subject of poverty is a common struggle that is shown in the movie. There a scenes where the film shows the hardships of Magnifico's family struggling to make ends meet. Poverty impacts the characters by making them doubt the life that they chose, making quarrels frequent.

Another issue that the story shows is the unjust treatment of people with disabilities. In the Philippines, 1.57% of the population has a disability, making the percentage of these people unable to take care of themselves. We can see in the movie that Magnifico's sister has cerebral palsy, a disability that hinders the person immobile and unable to speak properly. Despite her disability, certain characters in the story taunts and forces her to speak.
