With many historians claiming that this pattern of discrimination in the United States of American really beginning in the year 1882 with the introduction of the Chinese Exclusion Act. Marking a major turning point in American History with the country closing it's borders and picking and choosing not only who gets to stay in the 'land of the free', but also determining which groups of people get to experience that 'freedom'.  Yet, I would argue that American as a country has never once been tolerant let alone accepting of people who were different her idea of what a, 'true American' is. Evidence of this can be found as far back in American History as the earliest settlements by pilgrims in this land, predating the United States as a country itself. With the United States being founded on the genocide of Native Americans. Then with the enslavement of black people in the Americas and then the Chinese Exclusion Act, the deportation of Mexicans, Jim Crow, and the Japanese Interment camps during World War II, and much more.  And while some may argue that all of this is in the past, it really isn't. As the repercussions of all of these events in American History can still be felt to this very day. Some examples of this in the past four years include the racism against Asian Americans surrounding the Coivd-19 Pandemic, with our very own president referring to the virus as the , "China Virus". Or how about the BLM movement ? Where black Americans still are being oppressed and discriminated against often fearing for their own lives from people who should be there to protect them? Or how about the mass deportation of Latinx Americans in the last 4 years? With thousands of children disappearing from ICE Detention Centers? Or ICE forcing women to get hysterectomies?  Or how about the disappearance of thousands of Native American Women that no one is talking about? They say that America is supposed to be the land of the free and home of the brave, but what freedoms exactly? And reserved for who? And at what price will that 'Freedom' cost? Because if there is one thing that all of these wrong doings in America have in common is that such freedoms are conditional, and are reserved for a select few. And yet regardless of whether or not your rights are upheld you will always be drafted and you will always be expected to fight Americas wars for her. For instance, in the late 1920s to mid 1930s millions of Mexican Americans were deported, and when World War II rolls around America didn't hesitate to send out draft notices to the very same "citizens" that she had deported nearly 10 years prior. This is another pattern of drafting minorities that has been present in nearly all of the events I listed before, and still continues to this day.
