- I would say Mason was a slow to warm up child because he was often uneasy or cautious in new situations or with unfamiliar people.

- Mason had a insecure avoid attachment because he showed no physical emotion when his parents were away.
Parenting Styles
- The mother displayed actions of an indulgent parent because she placed few demands or controls over Mason, but she carried a few qualities of an authoritative parent. She encourages Mason to be independent and expects mature and age-appropriate behavior of him.
- The father was a neglectful parent because he was uninvolved in the child's life for many years, but begins to change his ways and turns his relationship with his son around to be more healthy and positive.

- As soon as Mason seemed to settle down it was time for him and his family to move again. It was an adjustment that he wasn't always happy about, but he always did what his mother asked of him.

- Mason makes the transfer from middle to high school and experiences new things. Such as alcohol, smoking, and girlfriends. Also getting his drivers license.
Graduation to college
- Mason graduates high school and experiences his first break up. -During this time adolescents are trying to figure out who they are and what their going to do with their life.
- Erikson states how adolescents going through this stage are constantly trying out different identities(roles and personalities). Throughout the movie Mason demonstrated this stage by constantly changing  his hair, clothing, and circle of friends.
- Mason explored many different identities throughout the movie and had been discriminated against by classmates for who he was, but by the end of the movie he had found he wanted his future to involve photography and art. He started off college no longer surrounded by bitter people but by new positive friends.

- The mother demonstrated generativity vs stagnation because she had constant concern to help her children grow up and lead useful lives.
