This film is an inspiration, a call to action, and a story all in one. The insights into the personal life of Denise, Judith, and James life told us that the similarities as a community are what brought them together and that it wasn't until they were united that they realized the power of their capabilities as unique and not as different or less from the rest of society. They still had the mentality of any normal teenager; it's just that society did not make the world and opportunities accessible but they were also purposefully excluded because of their personal circumstances. But the people at Camp Jened who served each other and were their own supporting network were truly the lucky ones. In comparison to the poor people at the at.. Who had horrific experiences when it was the state and private sector who did not have compassion or empathy for those in the institute. Yet the people from Camp continued their fight for their community to the best of their abilities to the point that they did impact the world. The protest and movements were some of the most emotional I have ever seen, for example when the black panthers supported the movement with food because they realized the intersectionality and shared interest to not be seen as less than human beings. Yet it is in one of the final scenes that I just lost it when I saw a small disabled kid crawling in the most enthusiastic and passionate way possible up the Lincoln Memorial.

But maybe it's both since I'm sure very few find this movie bad or not good. This film can be compared to a very similar movie that also felt very connected. Both characters are immigrants that can't seem to catch a breath and in the end, there is no happy ending. This is the reality of life and I guess now I know how to identify a good movie about struggles, we can't all be the owner of restaurants or the most successful person in our field. It might even be more hurtful to only find success stories and just tell those because it then hurts our movement for rights and equality. Society can believe that because there are a few stories of success everything but be okay and equal for minorities. We handle those differences and some of us are lucky to still have opportunities but we can't let our guard down for ourselves or for other people in our communities. The first moment of struggle was the robbery when our protagonist was just standing and selling fruit. And unfortunately, those who robbed her were probably also of Hispanic descent which is sometimes even sadder in a place like Oakland where we should form communities to improve ourselves. This movie does a perfect job of reflecting reality in a creative and unexpected manner. The image I chose shows the calmness before the storm, she has no idea how vulnerable she is, and even if she does she is concentrated on providing for her family, that's what is important to parents. The uphill battle against yourself, tradition, and society should be the title of this movie

It's often considered a stain on society but racism isn't entirely eradicated because it entitles changing people's mentality. In order to change someone's mentality, you need to approach them and teach them about the issues but it's also important to have some willingness to admit we might be wrong and actually want to learn about the unknown. These are some of the ideas that went through my mind when I saw the scene where the members of the kkk had the initiation for the fake Ron and at the same time the Black student union had organized an event. We go back and forward from the scene to see two entirely different worlds with two very different perspectives. Although the two events are very different in nature they represent the creation of another member who should be ready to hate. The other side is listening to a story that is told by a survivor and victim of that hate created in that other scene. That is how we live on the same earth and even the same community but we just understand the world to be incredibly different. But then there is one question unanswered, do rich people have an existential crisis, or are they able to just come up with new projects or purposes because of their resources? Because the CEO of worry-free didn't seem to think he was doing anything wrong, he genuinely thought this idea would improve society by creating superhuman horses that would do a better job in the labor market because those types of people have no regard for anyone but themselves, in fact, we can take the case where Cash is forced to rap. They assumed because he was from Oakland and black he had to have killed someone or at least knew how to rap and the pressure and necessity to fit in made him just constantly say the n-word to the beat while the others cheered. That is the entire point of the movie, forcing ourselves and being forced into a mold that is entirely different from the way the same society forms us. I chose this image because at the very least I was hoping that once Cash noticed what he was actually selling he would not do it and this was his first sale.
