Michael (Martin) Luther King Jr is born in Atlanta, Georgia, and missionary.

1944-1947

Michael (Martin) Luther King Jr first entered college at 15 (1944) attending Morehouse College pursining a degree of sociology. He attended Crozer Theological Seminary for the next three years. Graduating in 1948 at the age of 19.

1948- 1952

His second degree and third were Bachelor of Divinity from Crozier Theological Seminary and his Doctorate of philosophy. He met his wife (Coretta Scott King) at Boston while they were both attending Univeristy where they'd gone on a blind date at the New England Conservatory of Music in January 1952.

September 1954

After he finished getting his doctorate, King returned to the South at the age of 25, becoming pastor of the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church

December 5, 1955

“The Montgomery Bus Boycott” speech happened in the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church. This speech took place after Rosa Parks arrest for refusal to give up her seat on the bus.

Dr. King found the Southern Christian Leadership Conference in 1957, with a few other men such as , Bayard Rustin, Ralph Abernathy, Fred Shuttlesworth, and others, founded the Southern Christian Leadership Conference to have regional organization that could better coordinate civil rights protest activities across the South.

Martin Luther King Jr. and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference decided to strike at the very heart of racial segregation and discrimination in the South, Birmingham which is why he was there. He is arrested for public protests. He wrote the letter in order to encourge others to continue doing nonviolent protests.

Martin Luther King, Jr., launched a campaign of civil disobedience in Selma, Alabama, to bring national attention to black voters in the South. He led them to the steps of the capitol, all members were nonviolent, and there were thousands. The march lasted five days and was 54 miles long.

The assination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr happened on April 4th, 1968 while standing on a balcony outside his second floor room. News of his death sparked a lot of major outbreaks of racial violence.
