This could be a launching point for a more complex and nuanced conversation about bullying, for example with the question, "What if Adrian hadn't changed at the end?" What would you do if you were Ben? What are some options we have when we are facing bullies in real life? I like that it's simple, with a child explaining to the potato about why worrying doesn't help. I didn't expect to like it so much based on the cover and title, which don't give a lot of clues about the contents. The premise is that a child views the world as a museum of everything, noticing small things, and examining the world as if it were a museum exhibit, asking lots of questions and wondering about things deeply. This would be a wonderful read for a child to be encouraged to think creatively and to mindfully pay attention to the world around them, enjoying and wondering about things. It's a classic but this is my first time reading it. It's a wonderful story about two girls being the first to reach out to one another, despite the disapproval of others, and eventually changing others' minds. I would definitely share this in a storytime about friendship or overcoming prejudice or social justice for children, or a book kit on the same topics.
