What was something new or thought about in a different way that you learned this week and why?
Something I thought about differently this week was school in general. Being the last semester of classes, I figured, hey I might as well enjoy this because who knows if I'll be continuing my education or not later in life.

2.Based on best practices, how can you apply what you know in you career choice as a Health Promotion Manager?
As a health promotion manager, I know when deciding what kind of program to design, it is important to know your population. It is also very important to have credible sources and research done to make your program productive.

3.What do you want to learn more about, and why?
I would like to learn a more about employee wellness programs in general because that is the path I am most likely taking.

Ideas can change the world, but only when coupled with influence - the ability to change hearts, minds, and behavior.

1. How can you interpret the information presented so far in the Influencer book to reflect on this statement? What principles help you agree or disagree with the statement?
I do not agree with a small part of the statement that says "but only", there is always more than one way to do something. Although, I do agree with the statement because I would argue to say that it is a very powerful way to forth with an idea. Influence effects people in just about every aspect of life. If someone is able to have a great idea with a powerful influence on a group or individuals, it is more than likely the idea or proposal will happen.

2. What is your vision of wellness using the principals promoted in Workplace Wellness that Works book? Use Putnam's to imagine what is possible to create an innovative wellness program.
To be a strong influence to be able to persuade the people in the workplace by being genuine, using effective stories that are impactful, do whatever it takes to make a difference, focusing on value instead of return on investment and connect well-being with a higher purpose.

First: How can you use the six sources of influence to create your solution to this problem?
Personal motivation can be used to motivate individuals to want to create a better workplace or school environment. We will provide education to give individuals the personal ability to make their environment better. Social motivation will come into play after individuals being motivating, we hope that those individuals branch out and motivate the people around them to be positive.

Second: What information to date has been covered in the Putnam book that can help guide your in group's investigation into your topic?
I think the chapter " starting with what's right" can help guide us with our topic. It could help with just the simple concept of focusing on the strengths and using those as an advantage.

How would you use Putnam's ideas of "Creating Meaning" for the population you are targeting in the topic for your Genius hour?
For genius hour, we are targeting managers of the workplace. We plan on creating awareness of how a positive leader can effect the entire work environment. Although along with the awareness raising, the use of incentives to motivate the positive leadership would be more effective. We want to show managers how important it really is to be a positive leader. The positive attitude by a manager can be contagious and reach many employees. The optimism can even extend outside of the workplace and into the homes of employees.

How does your Genius Hour project use or build social capital? Use specific ideas from the Influencer book to support your reflection.
The project builds social capital by bringing together the people of the workplace. Our program specifically does this by starting with the mid-level managers. The managers then lead ELEs for their co-workers, which will increase cohesiveness in the workplace.

Putnam Chapter 3:9 covers experiential learning and concepts involved in that model. How can you help those you want to change behaviors use the experiential learning theory and develop the growth mind set?
Can use the experiential learning theory by getting people to try out something the may not normally try. By doing that, someone my develop the growth mindset. They then will be thinking I can do new things or I can do things that I am not used to doing.

1. Focus and Measure - reflect on this concept and think about what you are really wanting to change and how would you measure that change and show success?
We are trying to change the workplace environment and make it more positive. We are measuring this by having an assessment before we incorporate our tool kit into the workplace. After our tool kit has been used for weeks, we plan to have another assessment to measure job fulfillment and workplace environment are two examples.

2. Find Vital Behaviors - reflect and select the one or two vital behaviors that are really driving the problem you are addressing. What are the MOST IMPORTANT one(s) to address?
Vital behaviors for our driving question is employees being unhappy in the workplace and having a negative workplace environment. Making sure that all employees have a social workplace connection is very important because it will make the overall workplace environment a better one.

3. Engage all Six Sources of Influence - reflect on the six sources of influence and think about your strategy and methods. How would you plan to diffuse these into your project so you actually make a difference?
I think using social influence is the most effective influence for our situation. Starting with the managers to influence the people they oversee and hopefully the positive attitude from one person goes to the next.
