We always put the needs of our clients first. Our executive director is truly the best. She is always thinking of new ways to help our clients. We have a very supportive working board who are willing to put time and energy into our organization.

We should start an endowment which would allow us to only use the interest and maintain a large sum. Having our own vehicle, probably a van, would really help with delivery. Also having a paid driver would guard against all of the last minute call-outs that we get from volunteers. Having money to provide more social activities for the clients in the senior buildings would greatly add to their quality of life. Being able to increase the amounts of fresh fruits and vegetables in the summer would be great.

Building of the suggestion of creating an endowment to aid in sustainability, I would suggest that we use a portion of the funds to shore up our infrastructure:

Update/change office location, meeting space, and product storage (if needed)
Hire staff as needed to support services (wellness calls & visits) and to support expansion, as needed.

Regarding expansion:

Use a portion of the funds to attract, partner, and solicit large and consistent donors and sponsors.

Reserve 2 million to ensure long term stability and sustainability. Hire 1 driver to support expanded delivery capacity. Hire 1 full - time volunteer coordinator to recruit, train, and retain volunteers. Subcontract an accountant to strengthen financial management and a fundraising specialist to build a strong, sustainable fundraising strategy. Meet with the county to demonstrate our increased capacity and express readiness to serve more clients in New Brunswick and neighboring towns.

We are unique. We meet real needs with efficiency and an unmatched level of personal commitment. With a lean staff, a committed team of volunteers and board members we serve two meals daily to seniors and younger disabled residents, serve weekend meals to those who need it most, provide fresh produce, deliver cleaning supplies, provide appliances like microwaves and air conditioners, and maintain meaningful human connection through our friendly calls. No boasting involved but show me another organization that is doing this with limited resources. I'll wait!

For those of us that have been given the privilege to work on various Boards, we know that it can be a truly wonderful, meaningful experience, or something, well, less wonderful and meaningful. It's all about the people; coming together for a common cause, and being able to work with people you like and trust. This is extremely difficult to find, and kudos to our Nominating Committee and leadership involved in this process.

Everyone on the MOW GNB Board has strengths that can be leveraged for a windfall such as this. Our Executive Director, who seems to know everything and is the rock of our organization, is absolutely capable of coordinating this effort. What would we want to do? How would we fund it for the foreseeable future with endowments or other? I defer to the other posts written here by those who know exactly the best ways to serve the community. As the Treasurer, I would want to ensure stability is in place to keep programs permanently funded.

With additional funding, maybe hire more full-time/part-time staff for fundraising, communication or volunteers to assist in outreach to the community and planning the financial future for the organization. Also maybe pilot some new innovative services. Implement new named programs. Could do an "adopt a route" or "adopt a senior" campaign geared toward increasing engagement with companies. Can increase branding efforts with tshirts, logos, signs, etc.
