I think this because: The citizens are handicapped physically and mentally so people are led to believe that they are equal––but this is not equality. For instance, George is a smart individual but he is traumatized every few seconds by a harsh, loud noise in his ear that keeps him from thinking too hard about anything, including this treatment. 

So: I believe that the story, “Harrison Bergeron,” is suggesting that governments should not limit people from being themselves and living up to their potential. Equality is not achieved by restricting or devaluing  knowledge and strength––this society is simply attempting to control its population. 

I think this because: That's the only life that they know and they don't really know why it's wrong because they have been told that it's the only way of life that they known.

So: It means that sometimes when people are told something for a long time they will believe it even if it is very unfair and wrong. It is showing that people can be influenced by other people and that can have long lasting effects.
