Tonight my co-workers and I are going to the Ronald McDonald House in Baltimore to cook dinner for the families there! Feels so good to give them a hot meal when they're battling an illness or injury

Last week I paid for the car behind me in the Dunkin Donuts line and later in the week, I gave two Starbucks gift cards to the cashier at Starbucks and told her to have them pay for the next few people who come through. :) I love doing things like that from time to time!

My best friend was pregnant with her 3rd child while her husband was in Iraq. It was Christmas time, & I got a gift/clothing/baby stuff collection going at work. Everyone was so generous! I had a stranger (to her) drop off the goods on her porch & run away. I smiled so hard on the inside each time she would excitedly tell me another guess as to whom she thought the mystery gift-giver was. She never found out!

I volunteer and work my butt off for an organization called Team DC because I believe LGBT athletes should have a safe place to play sports, and I believe that LGBT high schoolers who are brave enough to make a difference in their local LGBT communities deserve to be recognized for making the world a little better.

A friend of mine accidentally sent me a message intended for his girlfriend, and in the message he said that he couldn't visit her because he didn't have enough money on his SmartTrip card (a DC metro card). Some background: This friend took a leap of faith and changed his career, also changing his income. Also, I moved from DC to NYC in January, and recently I discovered that my SmartTrip card had over $200 leftover from previous work benefits. This weekend, I visited friends in DC and went to my friend's restaurant and dropped off the SmartTrip card for him :o)

Last week, I offered to take my parents to the airport. I picked them up at 4:15 AM and I am NOT a morning person. Today, I am leaving work early to take my BFF and her husband to the airport, because I am also picking up my parents. Neither asked for rides!

A good friend at work has been working 12-hour shifts starting at 4am for a couple weeks to earn more money for herself & her 3 young girls. She is exhausted. Even though it's sometimes pricey, it's worth it to see the look of sweet relief on her face when I show up once or twice (sometimes 3 times!) a week with a tasty drink from Starbucks or Dunkin' Donuts for her drive home.

Its not often I have cash on me, but when I do I try to give to the men and women who are in need. My brother-n-law says I'm just aiding their drug/alcohol addiction but I like to think that maybe these $2 will turn their life around. To me $2 is a cup of coffee, to this man it might be a new start.

I work on the Texas Tech campus. Today at lunch, a girl who was here for orientation was checking out in front of me at the salad place. Her card that was supposed to buy her a meal wouldn't work and she stood there forever trying to get it to work. Obviously she didn't know what to do, nor did the guy checking her out. I started to get irritated that I was having a wait, then "Follow through on all your generous impulses" came through my head. I went ahead and paid for her salad along with mine and told her to have fun at orientation and good luck. The checkout guy's face was priceless, I see him nearly every day at lunch.

A friend's dad had a drinking problem many years ago. He was able to not only overcome his addiction, but to help others because of it: he sets aside the money he used to spend on alcohol, & once a year or whenever a situation presents itself, he uses that money to help someone in need. One year he bought his daughter's friend her bridesmaid's dress so she could be in the wedding. It's great that he was able to turn what was once a very serious issue into such awesome generosity!
