The increase in wolf population caused a decrease in deer population from 1960 to 1990, because the wolves needed more prey to support it's increased population. In 1990's to 2000, Something occurred to shrink the wolf population, as a result the wolves needed less prey in deer, which increase the deer population; so I believe the inverse trend to be a trend that opposes the previous trend that was set, or more of something gives you less of another thing and less of something gives you more of something else, as in more wolves less deer and less wolves more deer.
