The students will have a solution of water with 10 grams of salt. With an angle of refraction which is equal to 20°, what is the angle of refraction ? Make the experiment ! The number of the angle of refraction will be the answer and you will have to enter it in the locker...

C. 072°
 
Experiment n°2 :
 
If we have an angle of incidece correspinding to 30° and an angle of refraction which is equal to 20°, what is the medium n2 in which the light is passing (n1 is air) ?
 
We know this index of refraction :
- Air → 1.00
- Ice → 1.31
- Water → 1.33
- Plexi → 1.46
- Glass → 1.52
 
The numbers you have to enter in the locker is the place (in the alphabet) of the third letter of the medium.
For exemple, air = R = the 18th letter in the alphabet = number 018 in the locker.

Experiement n°1:

The students will have different equipment on the table:
- a protractor
- a light box
- a prism
We give them this protocol:
- first put the light box on 0°
- then put the prism in the middle of the protractor
- measure the deflected rainbow angle (especially the blue light)
The first number of the angle will be your first number to unlock the locker.

Experiement n°2:


The students will have a light box and a half cylinder in plexiglass.
Their goal? Find the index of refraction of the half cylinder.

They have some data:
- index of refraction of the air: 1
- angle of refraction: 25°
- angle of incidence: 40°
