The picture of seeds on the table deeply resonated with me because as future teachers we can create a positive or negative environment for our students. The environment that we make for our students will affect how they grow and prosper as future citizens. I did a similar photo for my assignment but I used flowers growing in a garden.

I found the metaphor of the engine/mechanic to be a very apt one. As someone with a degree in political science, I totally agree about how important it is for our students to gain a working knowledge and government and politics in order to be successful citizens in the future. In a country like Canada where we tend to be very apathetic about politics and government, its especially important to get our kids to understand and care about how their country is being run.
