French and Indian War (1754- 1763)

The French and Indian War was a war fought by Britain and France over France's expansion into the Ohio River valley which led to a constant conflict with the British colonies. The British held repeated attacks on the French built Fort Duquesne, though which the French won. The British declared war in 1756 and they fought for s total of 7 years until The Treaty of Paris was signed and the British received Canada from France and Florida from Spain, but authorized France to keep West Indian sugar islands, giving Louisiana to Spain.

Navigation Acts (1660-1661)

The Navigation Acts was created to aid Great Britain with financial issues aswell as, to restrict the American trade. The Navigation Acts controlled the colonies in which they were restricted on what they could manufacture, the ships they were allowed to use, and whom they were allowed to trade with. This act would be an example of the instances surrounding the royal efforts to limit commerce within the colonies. Navigation Acts was an affect of the colonies smuggling in the ways of neglecting these restrictions.

Sugar Act 1764

The Sugar Act was a law passed to force the colonists to pay taxes on sugar and molasses. The colonists tried to avoid paying the taxes which led to a conflict within the economy. Eventually, they lowered these prices and the colonists finally compelled and paid the taxes.

("No Taxation Without Representation") Eventually the colonists boycotted the British goods which led to conflicts and violent attacks. The meeting was led by James Otis which was a step closer to abolishing the tax. On March 18, 1766 The Stamp Act was officially repealed.

During this time period, the soldiers were allowed homes to live in while visiting the different towns. The owners of the home did not have a choice. The Battle of Lexington and Concord (1775)

The Battle of Lexington and Concord was the beginning of the American Revolutionary War. Hundreds of British troops marched from Boston to Concord. Paul Revere saw the "Redcoats" marching and traveled all the way to the town in order to warn the Americans that "The British are coming". This war also produced the phrase "The shot heard around the world" which is what began this war. 273 British soldiers died and 95 American soldiers died. The Americans claimed this victory.

The Declaration of Independence (1776)
