It consists of two major components, i.e., biotic or living and abiotic or nonliving. Biotic includes plants, animals, decomposers and abiotic includes air, water and land. The food chain further is described as the interdependence of the consumers to producers. The producers use an external source of energy to prepare their food and further along the chain. Consumers rely on producers for their food requirements. This cycle goes on and on and further along, the secondary consumers come to feed on primary consumers. The decomposers are the last link in the food chain who decompose the dead and organic matter.
