P. We think and from our understanding of the text we believe that Theory 10 was the most persuasive, our reason for this is because that there was no violence reported (Th1) and that in (Th6) rogue waves occurred - but there was no other bad weather sightings reported, so there fore Th10 makes more sense because it's a virus, and the crew wanted to hurry off!

E. Th10 states that a virus broke out on the ship and created havoc. It also states that the captain said to abort ship so they couldn't get ill- this backs me up because in my first paragraph I stated that they wanted to hurry off. It show's that they could have tied the yawl to the lifeboat with his wife: this shows that the missing lifeboat could have been taken by them!

E. The evidence backs up my theory because it's very very persuasive!

Point. I think that t10 ( that talks about viruses also saying that a virus broke out on the ship ) rather than t6 ( which talks about rogue waves ) and also t1( that says that pirates raided the ship )

Evidence . t10 states that some people believed that a virus broke out on the ship. It also say on the source that it could have prompted the captain to order the crew that were not infected to abandon ship to avoid the virus.

Explain. this explains it because if there was a virus on board a ship the crew of the ship would be in a hurry to get off the ship. so this proves my point that t10 is a good theory.

Point: We think that Theory 4 is the best theory to support the Mary Celeste mystery because they found the evidence that the crew might of trailed behind the boat in a lifeboat because they found the rope and lots of alcohol on the ship.

Evidence: Theory 4 states that there was a rope which they could of used and also lots and lots of alcohol on board which of 9 were empty. They might of thought it was going to explode so they ran to a life boat and attached the boat to the back of the boat then when they realised it wasn't going to explode so the captain, his family and crew members were about to get back on the boat but the rope had been cut so they went drifting out to sea and died of dehydration and hunger.

Explanation: This evidence supports our theory because theory 6 was about a natural disaster and the boat was still in good condition

The evidence was that there was rope and lots of alcohol on the ship.

Evidence: Theory 4 states that there was a missing life boat and 9 barrels of alcohol were empty. We believe that (because of the evidence) the alcohol tipped over and the members of the Mary Celeste thought the smell of the alcohol was actually the boat about to explode. They used the lifeboat to travel behind the boat to find out if it would explode or not.

Explain: Because theory 6 was about a natural disaster but nothing got damaged except the sails

Point: We believe theory 8 is the reason why the people on board the Mary Celeste had disappeared.

Evidence: Theory 8 states that the bread on the ship was in fact made of rye. Not wheat.

Explain: There is scientific proof that if rye gets the slightest bit wet a special kind of fungus will grow on the inside of the bread. Side effects of eating this fungus is blindness, hallucinations and insanity. Without realizing the crew and captain's family had eaten the infected bread and wen't mad. As it was a ship the bread was bound to get wet some point during the voyage.

Link: We chose theory 8 as there was no struggle and there was 6 month's supplies. If they did go insane they would not have realized that they had any food on board.

Point: We think it could be Theory 4 because, the evidence supports the theory. The evidence states that the rope tangling at the back of the rope states that the life boat was used as an emergency but if it was a false alarm they would not cut the rope.
Evidence: Theory 4 states that there was a missing life boat and 9 barrels of alcohol were empty. They abandoned the ship because they might have thought that the alcohol smelt like fire and alcohol catches on fire easily so they might have been worried it would light on fire.

Point - I think that theory 12 best fits this story because they get off the ship and die without harm to the ship.
Evidence - When it says in the text that 'The mary celeste accidentally beached on an unexpected sandbank in the middle of an island ' 'however the temporary island receded and the crew did not get back onto the ship fast enough and so drowned'
Explain - this supports when they say the ship wasn't damaged and the sandbank cannot harm the ship but can to the crew.

Point: We think that Theory 8 was the best theory out of the 12 it was the most realistic because the bread if had contact with water it would cause blindness hence being in the ocean it was very likely to get blindness from the water

Evidence:Theory 8
When the ship was found, it had a full stock of food and other provisions. Several people have drawn attention to the bread which the crew were eating on board. The bread was made of rye instead of the wheat and when it gets wet it breeds a fungus which makes you delusional and blind."
