Sedaris - The theme is how cultural differences can affect the way people look at a way a family may live their life differently from the rest that teaches you to learn from the ways you may badly judge a person based upon them. Sedaris is more sarcastic in his tone due to his resentment towards the Tomkey's beliefs in the story. Sedaris brings up his background back then at the beginning of the story to get familiar who he was back then and still slightly is overall. Sedaris has long but very basic sentence structure within the story.

Both - They both have a certain approach when it came to people judging the cultural differences in our society as a whole. They both flashback to the past to talk about what they went through within it. They both talk in the first person point of view within their stories. They both have shorter paragraphs overall.

Enjeti - The theme is more with the racial tension many people have experienced first hand from people they would least expect it from that teaches us to not judge a book by its cover. Enjeti is more serious in her tone due to the racism she faced in the story. Enjeti brings up where she is at currently in the present at the beginning of the story so we can understand why she thought back to the incident that changed her views on life forever. Enjeti has short but very detailed sentence structure within the story.
